Activities at Maple Leaf Lodge Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Courtney Doncaster

Activities Coordinator

My name is Courtney and I am proud to be the Activities Coordinator for Maple Leaf Lodge.

I have worked at Maple Leaf since 2020 and I started as a night carer before taking the opportunity  to lead the activities team. My team and I ensure that the residents enjoy a range of fun and varied activities from outings and external performers to animal therapy and gardening.

We are always open to new ideas so please join us for a chat at any time.

Life at Maple Leaf Lodge Care Home

,

Rock and Roll party

Residents have been busy this morning rocking out to the 60s. Resident Anne requested a 60s party and that’s exactly what we did! We have been listening to all the top hits, dressing up, singing our hearts out and dancing all morning long. Resident Ron and Alan even started up their own ABBA tribute act!

,

Minibus Outing

Residents took a trip over to Downtown to have a look at their Christmas displays. Resident Sonia said how lovely it looked and she wanted to take the snow owl back to the home. We also ran into the wonderful Mayor of Grantham who kindly stopped to take a photo with us. We are all definitely in the Christmas spirit now.

Trip to Newark Air Museum

Resident Ron requested a trip out to an air museum.

So, we went over to Newark Air Museum. We looked at all the different planes they had and received a tour around the Vulcan and a talk from one of the workers. Frank, Peter and Ron all said they enjoyed it very much.

International Chef's Day

Celebrated on the 20th October, Internatioanl Chef's Day celebrates the work chefs do. Here at Maple Leaf our team received a sweet treat and certificate of thanks for all they do.

Wear it Pink for Breast Cancer

All together we have raised £130 for Breast Cancer!

To raise money we held a raffle to win a pink hamper! The winner of the hamper was Emma C! We also held a bake sale and charity game of bingo which resident Margaret C won! Staff wore their best pink clothes, even the builders from the WOW team got involved.

A big Thank you to everyone who supported and donated!
