Activities at Maple Leaf Lodge Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Courtney Doncaster

Activities Coordinator

My name is Courtney and I am proud to be the Activities Coordinator for Maple Leaf Lodge.

I have worked at Maple Leaf since 2020 and I started as a night carer before taking the opportunity  to lead the activities team. My team and I ensure that the residents enjoy a range of fun and varied activities from outings and external performers to animal therapy and gardening.

We are always open to new ideas so please join us for a chat at any time.

Wear it Pink for Breast Cancer

All together we have raised £130 for Breast Cancer!

To raise money we held a raffle to win a pink hamper! The winner of the hamper was Emma C! We also held a bake sale and charity game of bingo which resident Margaret C won! Staff wore their best pink clothes, even the builders from the WOW team got involved.

A big Thank you to everyone who supported and donated!

Macmillan Coffee morning

We held our Macmillan coffee morning on the 23rd September! As a home we raised a total of £70 to go to the amazing charity. We held a bake sale, a big Thank you to our kitchen staff and laundry assistance Kayleigh for making some delicious cakes! A big Thank you to everyone who came in and supported. The morning was wrapped up nicely with the wonderful Sue Tinkler performing.

Little Jacks Farm

Residents requested to go on a trip to the farm, so that’s what we did. We went to Little Jacks Farm and Garden Centre for the  morning. The sun was shining and it was a lovely day. Resident Margret told us how she loves horse and they are her favourite animal. We finished the morning off in the cafe with a cup of tea and slice of cake.

Housekeeping Week

Since 1981 we have celebrated Housekeepers Week, it is about showing appreciation to housekeepers for their hard work. The Housekeeping team at Maple Leaf received a certificate and present to say thank you for everything they do.

Book lovers day

This morning our keen reader Sonia took a trip to Grantham Library to view all the different books and pick one to take back to the home. While we were out residents on Memory lane made some bookmarks with paint and the pattern from the leaves.

International dog day

What a perfect excuse to have a fury visitor! Milo came to visit Maple Leaf. He ran outside and received treats from residents. Resident Pat told us she loves dog and told us all about her past dogs.
