Activities at Maple Leaf Lodge Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
Courtney Doncaster
My name is Courtney and I am proud to be the Activities Coordinator for Maple Leaf Lodge.
I have worked at Maple Leaf since 2020 and I started as a night carer before taking the opportunity to lead the activities team. My team and I ensure that the residents enjoy a range of fun and varied activities from outings and external performers to animal therapy and gardening.
We are always open to new ideas so please join us for a chat at any time.

Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Maple Leaf Lodge Care Home
Royal Parks London
Across our services our residents have enjoyed a wonderful live virtual talk about starlings, one of the UK’s most gregarious birds, hosted by Rachel Dowse from The Royal Parks London.
Rachel examined our long history with this bird and the importance of common species to our lives. Our residents had the opportunity to find out more about the great murmuration and why we need to pay special attention to these beauties before it's too late.
The virtual experience was truly enjoyed by all.
Christmas Party
What a magic evening!!
And without staff wearing face mask! Finally!!
Residents and relatives had a night of celebrations as we held our Christmas party! Our kitchen staff made a delicious buffet for us all to enjoy, followed by Buck’s Fizz. We then we’re treated to a Christmas sing along with the wonderful clearer productions!
A big Thank you to everyone who came and supported and we hope you had a wonderful time.
A Trip to the Pantomime
Oh no you didn’t!!!…
Oh yes we did and what a magical last 2 nights it has been for the residents.
We have enjoyed a trip to the Guildhall arts centre to watch the wonderful pantomime of Rapunzel!
Residents were singing, dancing and clapping along to the wonderful show. Resident Ivy was in tears as it brought back so many memories for her of when she use to perform in pantomimes and her children use to watch her!
Elf Day
The elves at Maple Leaf have been out to play today, elves Courtney and Lisa have been causing trouble around the home. Helping out in the garden, in the kitchen, doing some building work and being kicked out of residents beds for trying to have a nap.
Throughout the day we have been selling cakes and a sweepstake which gardener Wendy won a bottle of wine!
The day has been full of laughs and smiles as we’ve raised money and awareness for the Alzheimer’s society!
Donkey Sanctuary
Across our services, Residents enjoyed a fantastic virtual tour of the Donkey Sanctuary Manchester. Residents were thrilled to meet the lovely herd of donkeys, including Henry and his best friend Tiny Tim and to learn more about their every day care. They were introduced to the sanctuary’s work and the impact they make to the lives of donkeys in need worldwide. The virtual experience was truly enjoyed by all.
Children in Need
What a fabulous afternoon of singing, dancing and cake eating! The wonderful Steve Carmel started of our afternoon of fundraising with songs we all sang along too!
Our kitchen team and laundry assistant Kayleigh Gent made some delicious cakes. Staff wore their best Pudsey outfits. We also had guess the name of the bear which builder Rob won!
A big Thank you to everyone who was involved and donated. As a home we raised a wonderful £100 to go towards the amazing charity.
