Activities at Meadowbeck Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.
Tina Holmes
Hi, I’m Tina, and I am the Activities Coordinator here at Meadowbeck.
I began working at the home as a Care Assistant in 1999. In 2014, I changed my role to Social Support Worker, which I enjoyed, as it involved supporting residents at Meadowbeck in their daily lifestyles.
I then became the Activities Coordinator in May 2017. I love working with our residents and getting to know them and their families. In addition to supporting them maintain an active lifestyle I always ensure to personally get to know each resident when they move in with us to support them in the continuation of any hobbies or interests the might have.

Visit To Langlands!
Today we had a drive out in our mini bus and visited Langlands Christmas crafts fair to get us in to the festive spirit.
The ladies enjoyed browsing all the Christmas craft stalls admiring all the traditional tree decorations, stopped by the delicious fudge stall where we got to sample a selection of flavours on offer, and we were taken aback with all the wonderful displays.
Once we had finished walking around we stopped off for cappuccinos and festive mince pies.
We had a wonderful time!
Remembrance Sunday
Remembrance Sunday is a day to commemorate the contribution of British and Commonwealth military and civilian servicemen and women in the two World Wars and later conflicts.
Our residents enjoyed putting a remembrance display together, with their own handmade wreaths and poppies, which turned out beautifully.
We all gathered together as we tuned in to the Remembrance service, raising a glass of sherry in memory of all those who fought for us, some held their poppies as they remembered and shared with us those they had lost whilst in the line of duty.
In the afternoon we read our war poems and took part in a remembrance quiz.
It was a lovely day of remembrance, enjoyed by all.
Halloween at Meadowbeck
Here at Meadowbeck we got into the spooky Halloween spirit of things by creating an autumnal display by painting and carving pumpkins.
In the afternoon residents enjoyed a themed baking session making / decorating cupcakes and biscuits, we had spooky black cats, witches hats, pumpkins and bats.
After a busy afternoon we were happy to see Carol arrive with her trolley with a selection of refreshments and sweet treats on offer.
Some of our residents enjoyed themed quizzes and watching Halloween films, looking forward to their Halloween bingo tomorrow.
We all had a spooktacular time.
Open Day at Meadowbeck
Today at our Open Day event residents and team members gave a warm welcome to everyone who visited our friendly home, giving them a tour and meeting Annaliza and Helen our management team.
Our Activities team hosted a cream tea afternoon with a selection of cakes and refreshments on offer including delicious homemade scones made by our talented chef Paul.
We had a wonderful day!
Autumn Crafts
Residents and team members gathered together on our memory lane community to take part in our crafts session for our autumn display and getting ready for Halloween.
The afternoon was very therapeutic with everyone focusing paying attention on what they were doing, whilst praising one another on their painting as they all showed their individual creative skills as they mixed paints with beautiful autumn colours together creating some amazing effects.
Thea, one of our wonderful ladies commented afterwards how she found the session to be very soothing and stimulating for the mind.
A great afternoon was had and the ladies were very helpful in helping Tina clear away at the end.
Macmillan Coffee Morning
Today here at Meadowbeck we hosted our Macmillan Coffee Morning to help raise funds and awareness for people living with cancer, a charity that is so close to our hearts.
Residents, friends and families came together from around the home where they enjoyed a selection of cupcakes and delicious treats and we all got involved in fun-filled games.
A special Thankyou to the very talented bakers Maureen, Kaye and Gianina for the delicious cakes, and to all who come along making the morning a great success, so far we have raised a total of £60 for the charity, we will update later of the total amount raised.
