Activities at Melbourn Springs Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is a major focus of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat will always be welcomed.

Life at Melbourn Springs Care Home

Celebrating our Carers
We rounded off Carers Week 2024 with a BBQ Party for our amazing staff.
We would not be able to do what we do for our residents without the great work that everybody does at Melbourn Springs so to be able to show the staff how much they are truly appreciated is very special for us.

Weekend fun at Melbourn Springs
It has been another busy, fun-filled weekend at Melbourn Springs.
The residents have been Café 19 in Duxford for tea and cake. After this we delivered the lovely bookmarks that the residents have made to Royston Library and the Melbourn hub where they were greatly received.
Within the home the residents took part in their regular scrabble club and we finished the weekend in style with the balcony party.

Animal Magic
Our residents' at Melbourn Springs are always looking at ways that they can help others.
This week we have been to visit Shepreth Wildlife Conservation Charity where we took old newspapers that the residents saved to make hedgehog beds at the hedgehog hospital.
We also visited RATS - Rehoming Animal Telephone Service where we took bed blankets along with some very special dog biscuits that the residents had made earlier in the week at the home
A very fulfilling afternoon and great to know that our residents' continue to make a difference.

Birthday Celebrations
We had a great afternoon on Sunday as we celebrated our 4th anniversary with a sun-filled garden party.
Our residents, guests and hard working staff enjoyed live music, activities and games, a variety of home-made treats created by our talented team of chefs and we also received a special visit from the Mayor of Royston.
A truly memorable afternoon was had by all.

Super Furry Animals
This week we received a special visit from Michelle's Animal Therapy & Petting Party where we were treated to an afternoon with some beautiful therapy pets. Animals have a wonderful calming effect and the residents love to stroke them, talk to them and play with them.
The home was visited by cats, dogs, guinea pigs, reptiles, rabbits, and chickens who caused a great deal of excitement. All of the residents enjoyed the visit, they petted and fed the animals who seemed to appreciate meeting their new friends.
We very much look forward to seeing Michelle and the animals very soon.

All fun and games
With the weather being typically unpredictable, we are always thinking on our feet in order to make sure our residents are kept entertained rain or shine.
We are outside as often as possible and it is always about fun and games with the residents whether it be singing, seated exercise, jigsaw puzzles or a good old game of dominoes.
There really isn't anything better than the sound of our residents' laughter.
