Activities at Melbourn Springs Care Home

Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is a major focus of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat will always be welcomed.

Thank you Tesco!

A big thank you to Mandy Jinkerson, Community Champion at Royston Tesco Extra who has kindly donated Pumpkins for our residents to carve for our home display. Melbourn Springs will be taking part in the community Melbourn Halloween Hike on 31st October.

The home is number 15 on the trail and has some special treats waiting for all who come to visit us!

Autumn Arts

Our residents at Melbourn Springs had a fun filled morning creating an Autumn themed collage - complete with leaf rubbings and painted fallen leaves.

It was a lovely session as we all marked the change of the season and our home weekly Arts and Craft session is always definitely one of our most popular activities.

Cheers Iris!

Sometimes you just need to take a second to reflect on life at Melbourn Springs and all that has been happening over these last few months.

Our very first resident Iris said today, “I didn’t know what I was missing out on until I moved to Melbourn Springs - I laugh every single day, we really have a lot of fun and the care is absolutely excellent!”

This absolutely means the world to the home team Iris. Thank you so much and, “Cheers!”

World Grandparents' Day - Silver Sunday

This Silver Sunday some of our residents at Melbourn Springs wanted to share their advice for the younger generation. They certainly did not disappoint with their wise words and needless to say there was lots of food for thought!

Our ex-Headmaster, Colston expressed his views about education which certainly was a conversation starter and many staff have said that they wish he had been their teacher as he is so engaging.

It truly was a lovely day, complete with lots of laughter and our residents also enjoyed some relative Garden visits too in the afternoon to mark this special day.

September Employee of the Month- Laura

Activity Coordinator Laura is our September employee of the month at Melbourn Springs. Laura is, “kind, considerate, funny and always goes the extra mile to ensure our residents are happy at all times."

Harvest Festival

To celebrate Harvest Festival, Melbourn Springs held a special virtual service on our home I-pads as our residents watched the All Saints Melbourn and Holy Trinity Meldreth Church Harvest Festival via Facebook.

But no Harvest Festival would be complete without a Harvest Sheaf and our Head Chef Paul Jones did not disappoint!

Residents helped decide on whether to have Plaits or a Basket but the Sheaf was agreed on in keeping with the farming community around Melbourn.

All of our residents had a lovely day - complete with delicious home-made Chunky Vegetable Soup and freshly baked Bread as we gave thanks for all of the delicious food that we are so fortunately blessed with.
