Activities at Middletown Grange Care Home

We aim to provide a variety of activities that will both mentally and physically stimulate the people we support. Residents have a range of different needs and interests, and it is crucial that these are reflected in the activities available, so that each individual is able to participate to the best of their ability. We organise both group and individual social events that everyone is welcome to take part in; there is a weekly outing to local places of interest, including the garden centre and the local farms, parks and museums. In addition, we enjoy regular visits from entertainers and even exotic animals. We also host events such as 'Beach Day' that relatives and friends are encouraged to participate in. Getting involved in charities is a big part of our ethos, so events such as 'PJs for Pudsey' and pirate-themed days are regularly hosted to raise money for different foundations, including the Alzheimer’s Society.

Life at Middletown Grange Care Home

National Tea Day

Residents and staff enjoyed celebrating the Queen’s birthday as well as National Tea Day. We enjoyed a selection of wonderful teas, cakes and biscuits which we enjoyed in the garden on a nice sunny day over a quiz.

Happy Birthday!

Rene was joined by staff and friends at Middletown Grange, in addition to her family over Skype for a special garden party to celebrate her 100th birthday in style. Telegram was also received by the Queen.

Rene said she felt very fortunate to have turned 100 and that her secret to living such a long and healthy life is to eat an apple a day!

Mother's Day

On Mother’s Day, residents here at Middletown Grange enjoyed the sunshine whilst opening their gifts. The residents were very impressed with modern technology as they enjoyed receiving Skype calls from their loved ones.

Residents Spend Time in the Garden

Residents have been spending a lot of time in the garden playing garden games and doing other activities. We have been doing lots of crosswords to stimulate our minds and light gentle exercises to promote resident wellbeing.

Over the Rainbow

Residents, staff and the local community came together to create a giant rainbow made out of pom-poms. We had lots of fun making the pom-poms and creating a rainbow outside our home to represent positivity, hope and togetherness during this time.

Crocodiles of the World

“Some of our residents had a fantastic morning visiting crocodiles of the world in Carterton. We got to see the crocodiles being fed, there were lots of laughs as the crocodiles used their extra-long tails to jump up out of the water and catch their food.

We also saw meer cats, otters and extra-large tortoises. One of our residents George said “it reminded me of trips I used to go on with my family”.
