Activities at Moors Manor Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Jo Henderson

Activities Coordinator

Hi, my name is Jo Henderson and I am the Activities Coordinator here at Moors Manor.

I am looking forward to bringing my creative side to the home as I was previously a florist and baker and look forward to us making lots of lovely treats for us all to enjoy.

When at home Jo is a mother to two wonderful daughters and also a pet mum to labrador Marley.

I cannot wait to welcome our residents into their wonderful new home and help to bring smiles, joy and laughter to each day.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Nigel Reville performs in the home

We had a wonderful afternoon with the talented Nigel Revill who sang and played his guitar singing songs from the different decades which had everyone singing and dancing along too. We had a special performance from Marjorie who sang a solo which was beautiful.

Music brings so much fun and enjoyment and we look forward to Nigel performing again soon.

Visit from Helpful Hounds Assistance Dogs

We had the wonderful Peter from Helpful Hounds Assistance Dogs come to the home with their dog Raffi who made himself very comfortable in the home saying hello to everyone. So many of our residents used to have their own pets at home so to be able to have wonderful charities who bring in their animals for our residents to enjoy really does make their day.

We look forward to Raffi and Peter coming again to see us all soon.

Gardening club

Residents have enjoyed gardening club and really getting their sleeves rolled up. Marianne and Liz were pruning and dead heading flowers. Rita and Robert were picking more of the runner beans we had been growing, and Kathy, Veena and June were cutting up the runner beans ready for the Kitchen to use.

A real team effort by our residents to look after their garden.

Minibus outing to Haskins

We had another enjoyable minibus outing for our ladies and this time we visited Haskins Garden Centre. Veena, Betty, Kathy and Liz all enjoyed having a look at all the beautiful plants. Liz was very good with her plant knowledge and was teaching us all the names. We then finished the trip with a lovely sup of tea and cake.

As we were leaving we could see that they were starting to set up their Christmas displays so we will make sure we come back to see what they have created.

Keep the body moving!

Exercise is so important for us all which is why we always make sure we have at least one class each week. Here we have Dan who is new to the home who holds a seated exercise class which really gets the residents moving but as well he plays a great selection of music which has us all singing along too. We also have Rosemary who holds a seated yoga class which is helping everyone's mobility and also breathing. Here are just a few photos from both classes.
