Activities at Moors Manor Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Jo Henderson
Hi, my name is Jo Henderson and I am the Activities Coordinator here at Moors Manor.
I am looking forward to bringing my creative side to the home as I was previously a florist and baker and look forward to us making lots of lovely treats for us all to enjoy.
When at home Jo is a mother to two wonderful daughters and also a pet mum to labrador Marley.
I cannot wait to welcome our residents into their wonderful new home and help to bring smiles, joy and laughter to each day.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Moors Manor Care Home

Minibus outing to the New Forest
Residents Bryan, Henry, June and Marianne enjoyed a lovely afternoon out to Royal Oak, North Gorley. Everyone enjoyed a chilled drink, took in the beautiful scenery and got to find out more about each other. It was very peaceful and what was lovely was that we got to see the famous New Forest ponies and also saw a few cows and donkeys as well.
Everyone all enjoyed going to the pub so we will make sure to come again very soon.

Bean Bag toss with our volunteers
We had our fantastic volunteers Geraldine, Dee and Adele come to the home again and they really do enjoy rolling up their sleeves for whatever activity the residents would like to do. This time it was a game of bean bag toss to see who could score the most. It was a rather competitive game amongst everyone a good way of improving your hand eye coordination. Our winner was Eileen who scored an amazing 90! Second place went to Ivan and in third place was Kathy.
We look forward to when our volunteers come back next time to see what the residents have in store for them!!

Minibus outing to Pembroke Riding for the Disabeld
Residents enjoyed going back to Riding for the Disabled - Wilton Group for tea with the ponies. Our residents Jenny, Maud, Robert and Rita had an amazing time meeting the horses and staff. We were also joined by Maud's family who met us there and also got to share the experience too.
This time our residents got to groom and walk with ponies while the staff also shared wonderful stories about each pony.
Afterwards we all enjoyed a wonderful afternoon tea which was prepared for us by the volunteers and had a fun afternoon together.

Gardening club
This week's gardening club had residents all having a wonderful time in the garden. They were weeding and planting new plants in the planters and also picking all the runner beans we have been growing which chef Boris was on hand to collect them and then use in our kitchen.
Gardening brings all the residents together as everyone used to enjoy doing this when they lived at home so for them all to be part of a community here together and maintain our garden is so lovely to see.

Pet Therapy in the home.
This week we had a very special visitor into the home, we had the lovely Sky the dog and his owner Pauline come to visit everyone in the home. Pet therapy in care homes is fantastic as many residents had their own pets and being able to spend time with dogs visiting here in the home brings so much joy. As you can see in the photos there were lots of smiles and enjoyment spending time with Sky.
We look forward to Pauline and Sky's next visit in the home.

Andy performs with his accordion
We had the wonderful Andy and his accordion come to the home this week to entertain our residents and as you can see he is very popular with a lot of our residents wanting to come and watch. Andy played a selection of songs which had everyone singing and on a couple of occasions dancing as well.
Music brings so much joy and laughter and we really do love Andy's performances in the home.
