Activities at Moreton Hill Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Moreton Hill in Bloom

After the glorious weather we have had a traditional wet bank holiday today! We took the opportunity to create some beautiful flower arrangements, Moreton Hill is in bloom thanks to our residents' beautiful displays.

Perfect Sunday

It has been a perfect Sunday at Moreton Hill. Residents enjoyed a delicious three course Sunday lunch, accompanied by wine, followed by tea and coffee sat out in the sun, chatting and relaxing.

Tree Crafts

The theme of this week's crafts has been trees. The textures, colours and form of the many varieties of tree can be studied in great detail. Residents selected from a range of leaves to create a clay leaf which we will be decorating next week. We also painted tree silhouettes, adding sprinkles of colour to create blossom both on the trees but also falling. With inclement weather it has been a perfect opportunity to bring the outdoors inside. It is wonderful to be creative, but also these session lead to a wide variety of conversations and interactions amongst the residents.

Say it with a Poem

Moira, Morton Hill's Resident Ambassador was among the next group to go on a mini bus trip, this time to Winstones Ice cream Parlor to enjoy an ice cream with a view of the Five Valleys. We have the privilege of hearing Moira's creative poems weekly at our poetry group so we are delighted to share Moira's poem to sum up the trip:

Red letter day!

We are allowed out to play!

Get on the minibus for an afternoon ride

Now we can see what’s happening outside

Jackie and Lorna load residents safely on board

Off we go down our bumpy road

Despite broken promises and requests denied

This still remains a dangerous ride

Bluebells on the banking

Much to my delight

A truly spring like sight

So many familiar places to recall

Pleased I can remember all

Seeing the countryside coming to life

That’s a real tonic in this time of strife!

Is this a dream?

We are outside Winstones Ice Cream

Now we set off to gently roam

Enjoying beautiful views on the way home!

Saul Junction Ice Creams

It was a momentous day yesterday as residents from Moreton Hill got to go out on a mini bus trip for the first time in over a year. This will be the first of many with lots of catching up to do, the residents today were having a good chat about where else to drive to and we certainly are spoilt for choice with so many beauty spots near by. Jackie and Lorna our Activities Coordinators drove the minibus out to Saul Junction. The scenic drive was a pleasure, followed by ice creams while sat looking at the range of boats. It bought back memories for us all of boating holidays and boat trips.

Glorious Weekend

What a glorious weekend. Our residents took full advantage with some sitting chatting soaking up the rays, while others bought their crafts and knitting outside as well. Vince also took full advantage not only of the sun, but also the attention. We are so fortunate to have such stunning surroundings and a selection of seating areas for everyone to enjoy.
