Activities at Moreton Hill Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Life at Moreton Hill Care Home

New Magic Table

Moreton Hill has a Memory Lane Community for those living with dementia.  The community has a range of resources designed to increase physical and social interactions.  We are delighted to now have a magic table.  It is portable and interactive, providing residents with a selection of games, music, poetry, quizzes and sensory experiences in a group environment or in the comfort of a bedroom or quiet space.

It is proving to be a popular activity, it is fun, but also has been proven to have a very positive effect on those living with dementia.  The interactive light projected games offer sensory stimulation, relaxation and reminiscence.  Barchester's Life Enrichment Program offers all residents a meaningful person centered range of group and individual activities and events.

Breakfast Delivery from Forest Green Rovers

Residents and staff at Moreton Hill had a very special delivery.  David Drew, former local MP arrived with a special vegan breakfast prepared by Forest Green Rovers Football Club.

As part of their "Keep in touch with the community program" Forest Green have delivered all-vegan breakfasts around the area and we were lucky enough to be one of the recipients.

Each pot contained delicious granola, fresh fruit and yoghurt, everyone said how tasty this was and were very grateful for such a kind delivery.

Bessy Celebrates 10 Years Service

Nurse Bessy Zimba recently celebrated 10 years of service with us at Moreton Hill.  Bessy is a firm favourite with our residents and families, Bessy said "Moreton Hill and all the people here are my family.  I am happy and proud to be working in a lovely home and plan to stay here for many more years".

Fun & Games

As well as our regular exercise classes, we also play skittles and boules, dominoes, draughts and cards. Our parachute game is also a very popular activity and it is much more difficult to get the balls into the middle than it looks. Teamwork is definitely required!

Snowdrops & Snow

Just when we thought Spring was around the corner and the flowers were starting to show in our gardens, we had a weekend of snowy weather. It was a beautiful winter wonderland view from many of our residents’ rooms, and despite the lane to Moreton being covered in snow and ice, our intrepid staff made it up the hill with the help of a few 4x4 vehicles.

Vaccine & Testing

We are proud to say we were at the top of the list in our area to get the first dose of the vaccine for our residents and staff on 31st December 2020.  What a way to celebrate New Year!

We are now waiting for our second jabs, but in the meantime, we have got used to doing regular lateral flow and COVID-19 tests.  Everyone has played their part and it has been a great team effort.
