Activities at Mount House and Severn View

Our Activities team is a dedicated group whom strive to ensure that the residents of Mount House have a broad range of meaningful activities daily which reflect the needs, wants and interests of all our residents. From our larger events including Garden Parties in our spectacular grounds to birthday celebrations with live musical entertainment we always have a broad range of events to suit all of our wonderful residents. We also go on a number of outings throughout the year in and around Shropshire, many of which are linked to community organisations whom cater specifically for interests of the people we support.

Something we have always been passionate about here at The Mount is Music therapy and we offer a diverse musical programme of live music and entertainers throughout the year to suit all tastes. Food theme days and tasting afternoons, as well as regular Cookery classes and chair yoga are on offer as well as beauty therapy and massage.
We aim to consistently provide a high quality activities programme for all of our residents and ensure that regardless of limitations and circumstances each individual has the best possible experience within our home, through both a physical and mentally stimulating person-centred approach.

Gardening Time

We've been out enjoying the beautiful weather and our sun-trap of a garden, just look at the flowers and blossoms starting to spring into life to brighten the summer ahead.

Marjorie proudly displayed the home-grown seedlings to her daughter before roping her into gardening club and repotting them all for future growth. Well done ladies.

If you're interested in gardening and would like to join in with the weekly gardening club or take the next step to tending your own little patch in our garden please do give us a call. (See attached poster).

Tai Chi With Natalie

Tai Chi with Natalie Small is one of our residents’ favourites. Held every Tuesday afternoon at Mount House, Natalie’s Tai Chi class encompasses everything from mental, physical, and emotional to spiritual and healing benefits.

It is clear to see how much they enjoy her sessions, with her smoothing step by step instruction, relaxing music and low-impact moves along with breathing techniques, Natalie encourages our residents to bend, stretch, twist and raise their limbs with ease!

We look forward to seeing you again next Tuesday and, weather permitting, we’ll get to do it in the sunshine.

YMCA Give Back at Mount House

With the mission of giving back to the local community the young persons from YMCA Wellington chose to spend time redeveloping the overgrown gardens of Mount House & Severn View.

YMCA enables people to develop their full potential in mind, body and spirit by creating supportive, inclusive and energising communities where young people can truly belong, contribute and thrive.

The group got stuck right in on arrival, digging out boarders, removing weeds and creating a fairy garden for our residents to enjoy. The garden is looking so much better, ready for our residents to get out in the sunshine and start planning what flowers they’d like to see grow.

The group have volunteered more time to replant our pots and the resident window boxes which will be a delight.  THANK YOU so much for all you've done, and continue to do!

Green spaces are so valuable to a person’s ongoing wellbeing, getting out in the fresh air, planting and nurturing to promote safe spaces for wildlife, bees and insects. We are very fortunate at Mount House & Severn View to have a large garden, raised beds and numerous pots and planters.

Are you looking for a green space in Shrewbury to tend?

We’d like to hear from anyone in the local area who would like to use our gardens to grow their own vegetables, fruit and flowers (please see attached poster).

All we ask is that our wonderful residents may spend time with you as you work. Whatever you sow and grow is yours to keep, we’re merely here to facilitate the community allotment and 'Let it Grow'.

Please get in touch and help us continue the amazing work the super young person's from YMCA Wellington has started.

For more information please call the home on 01743232228.

Celebrating International Nurses’ Day

In 2023, the theme for International Nurses’ Day is... Our Nurses. Our Future.

International Nurses’ Day is a day to give thanks for the dedication of care givers everywhere, who go above and beyond the call of duty to deliver extraordinary care and support.

Coinciding with the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing, International Nurses Day, held on Friday 12th May, is a day to celebrate nurses and care staff around the world.

The residents and staff at The Mount House & Severn View were happy to get involved by presenting their wonderful nurses with a super hamper full of thank you gifts.

Adrian Suciu, General Manager at the home, said: “Our nurses and staff are hard-working, dedicated, and passionate about caring for others, and I’m proud of the professionalism and duty of care they uphold. All their efforts are focused on delivering the best possible care for our residents, so it’s nice to take this time to show our appreciation in return.”

Thank you Team for all you do on a daily basis.

Coronation 'Big Lunch and BBQ'

Staff and residents would like to thank everyone who attended our BBQ today in celebration of the King's Coronation.

We had a wonderful time with you all and would like to thank the DJ for his time and amazing set list! It was a great success and enjoyed by all with lots of singing and dancing throughout.

Also a massive THANK YOU to our Home Manager; Adrian who endured a sponging to help raise money towards our 'residents fund' to buy a magic tablet!

From hot dogs and burgers, to ice cream and jelly the Coronation feast was a beautiful spread thanks to our Head Chef; Charlotte.
