Activities at Mount House and Severn View
Our Activities team is a dedicated group whom strive to ensure that the residents of Mount House have a broad range of meaningful activities daily which reflect the needs, wants and interests of all our residents. From our larger events including Garden Parties in our spectacular grounds to birthday celebrations with live musical entertainment we always have a broad range of events to suit all of our wonderful residents. We also go on a number of outings throughout the year in and around Shropshire, many of which are linked to community organisations whom cater specifically for interests of the people we support.
Something we have always been passionate about here at The Mount is Music therapy and we offer a diverse musical programme of live music and entertainers throughout the year to suit all tastes. Food theme days and tasting afternoons, as well as regular Cookery classes and chair yoga are on offer as well as beauty therapy and massage.
We aim to consistently provide a high quality activities programme for all of our residents and ensure that regardless of limitations and circumstances each individual has the best possible experience within our home, through both a physical and mentally stimulating person-centred approach.

Life at Mount House and Severn View
Macmillan Coffee Morning
Head Chef Charlotte had a lovely morning with the residents ahead of our Macmillan Coffee Morning, they all enjoyed whisking and mixing and baking. The actual event was a great success with many guests and lots of cake! We had a special visit from The Little Explorers who also enjoyed a huge chocolate cake to share with their friends back at nursery.
Chelsea FC 'Thank You'
Mount House resident; Kirk McIntyre has been a life-long fan of Chelsea football club, he watches every game on his TV and wears his team shirt with pride. After suffering a stroke he's been unable to attend any of the actual matches but hopes one day to return to Stamford Bridge or catch an away game. Knowing his love for the team, Rachel our Admin Assistant decided to write to the club. Not thinking they'd respond however, today she was able to make Kirk's day with their wonderful reply. We’ll be framing this letter for Kirk, and working on a way to get him to an actual game!
Extend-ercise with Shiela
The sensational 'Sheila' is back after her summer break. Her popular music and movement; Extend-ercise Class is a real favourite with our residents, especially Connie who loved being reunited with Sheila.
Mount House & Severn View care home provides a varied life enrichment programme tailored to residents’ interests and abilities many of which are open to members of the local community to join. Please call our activities coordinator; Joyce on 01743 232228 to receive a calendar of forthcoming activities.
Autumn is Bearing Fruit
Autumn is approaching and resident Richard has been enjoying some late summer sun amongst the apple trees. The Mount orchard is almost ready for " scrumping "! We love this time of year when all the fruits around the garden start to appear and our vegetable patch is ready to harvest.
Apple picking is a great way to get fresh air and give purpose to a walk outdoors this autumn. We've no doubt Chef Charlotte could create a few masterpieces with this delicious bumper crop.
Fund Raising Family Fun Day
The Mount House Family Fun Day started with a hair raising fundraiser. As staff, residents, relatives and the local community came together to enjoy a ‘Family Fun Day’ full of activities for all ages, local stalls and live entertainment.
One of our wonderful care assistants; Barry Swain opened the event with a head shave! Knowing it would boost her confidence, Barry asked if the first cut could be courtesy of sight impaired resident Joyce Leeke. Supported by fellow carer Tracey Rogers, Joyce thoroughly enjoyed the experience, using her hands to guide each stroke she said she could feel Barry’s hair fall through her fingers and just hope it didn’t hurt.
The shave raised an amazing £60 to support the residents’ social fund. Thank you Barry, you're an absolute star!
During the event visitors enjoyed plenty of refreshments prepared by the homes' catering team and a garden full of attractions and activities including face painting and live entertainment from vintage entertainer Bertie Blighty Resident, Chris, said, “It's been a fabulous day, I was surrounded by lots of great people, and the refreshments kept flowing. The face painters even gave me some fancy body art."
The home-made cake and preserves stall was full of choice, and the tombola and raffle were a real hit with amazing prizes to be won. In total the event raised over £500. We would like to thank everyone for contributing their time, donations and for joining us to make it a truly ‘fun day’ to remember!
