Activities at Mount Vale Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from PAT dogs, entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Louise Chapman

Activities Co-ordinator

Hi my name is Louise I have been working at Mount Vale since 2010. I am the activities co-ordinator, I am here to promote the wellbeing of our residents and ensure they have a variety of activities to get involved in. I love finding new creative ways to engage our residents and involve our local community.

I am a dementia champion for the home and enjoy continuing to learn and find more things I can do to help promote the wellbeing of our residents.

I love spending time with each individual getting to know them so I can add individual needs into our plans. I love building strong relationships with our residents and families.

I am a crafty person and can be found doing diamond arts and lots of other creative things when I am not at work. I love spending time with my family and going for walks with my dog Dottie and cuddling my cat Loki.

Monthly Church Service at Mount Vale

Residents at Mount vale enjoyed their monthly church service from the Methodist Church and the Church of England this week.

Residents joined together and thoroughly enjoy singing hymns and saying a prayer. It's great to be able to welcome back the local Churches to connect with our residents and provide great services for them again.

Halloween Cooking Demo

Residents had a lovely time joining Chef Alex Connell from Vegetarian for Life for a Halloween-inspired virtual cooking demo.

Alex demonstrated how to prepare a few themed dishes, such as root vegetable tagine, roasted butternut squash mac-n-cheese, chocolate pots with piped biscuits and flapjacks.

Our residents were delighted to be a part of this lovely virtual culinary session by tasting the vegetarian dishes from the comfort of our home.

Good food, good wine, great company

Over the weekend, residents at Mount Vale care home enjoyed an afternoon of delicious cheeses and wines over a natter and a quiz.

We had a varied selection of cheeses to suit everyone’s tastes, with a range of alcohol and alcohol-free wines, beers and cider to try.

It's always a great afternoon when cheese and wine is involved!

Birthday Celebrations at Mount Vale

This week we celebrated a special Birthday for a special lady. Our wonderful Activities Coordinator, Becky enjoyed a surprise Birthday lunch with residents and staff.

Every day Becky goes out of her way to shine through the home and provide a fun, loving and caring environment for our residents. This week we wanted to pay it back and thank her for all her continuous hard work, and what better way to do this then celebrating with her on her special day. We decorated the home and our Hospitality team put on a wonderful spread of delicious food and cakes.

It was a wonderful day!

A fun filled morning with an exercise class

This week, our very own Staff took over with a fun filled exercise class, consisting of of motivational music and light exercises where residents joined in and had a great time!

Exercise is so important, even just moving your neck side to side or stretching out hands and feet, it can be hugely beneficial for the joints.

It was a great morning, enjoyed by both residents and staff.
