Activities at Mount Vale Care Home
Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from PAT dogs, entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.
Louise Chapman
Hi my name is Louise I have been working at Mount Vale since 2010. I am the activities co-ordinator, I am here to promote the wellbeing of our residents and ensure they have a variety of activities to get involved in. I love finding new creative ways to engage our residents and involve our local community.
I am a dementia champion for the home and enjoy continuing to learn and find more things I can do to help promote the wellbeing of our residents.
I love spending time with each individual getting to know them so I can add individual needs into our plans. I love building strong relationships with our residents and families.
I am a crafty person and can be found doing diamond arts and lots of other creative things when I am not at work. I love spending time with my family and going for walks with my dog Dottie and cuddling my cat Loki.

Life at Mount Vale Care Home
Birthday Celebrations at Mount Vale
We have had a great day celebrating John’s Birthday.
Our talented chef, Dana made a beautiful chocolate cake for John and our Residents to enjoy.
John got some lovely gifts and spent the afternoon relaxing enjoying a beer or two.
Happy Birthday, John!
English National Ballet dance workshop
We celebrated International Youth Day virtually with English National Ballet’s youth dance company, ENBYouthCo and their Creative Director, Richard Bermange.
We had the opportunity to watch A Comedy in Long-shot, participate in a chair-based creative dance workshop and observe an open rehearsal where Richard and the young dancers created a performance inspired by our childhood memories.
They took part and we didn’t realise Ballet was so meaningful, with all the different movements, and afterwards spoke of this and created their own movements and what it had meant to them.
It was a wonderful experience, enjoyed by all.
Residents get down with club culture!
We had a lovely time joining V&A Dundee curator, Kirsty Hassard, as she introduced us virtually to the history and design of night clubs and the club culture from the 1960s to present day.
We explored the evolution and development of night clubs around the world, from Italy to America, and closer to home, looked at their importance as cultural venues and designed spaces.
This current exhibition celebrates night clubs at a very important moment, as we all look to a brighter future where everyone can come back together, to dance and to enjoy nights out once again.
We all enjoyed the virtual talk.
Residents celebrate International Beer Day
Residents at Mount Vale care home had a fun-filled day as we raised a glass and tasted top ales in recognition of International Beer Day.
Our residents enjoyed a mini beer festival in the garden and got involved in a variety of interesting activities.
Some of our residents spent time learning about craft brewing and the history of beer, others preferred to join the beer tasting session in the garden and to try beers from all around the world.
It was a wonderful day, enjoyed by all.
Church services brought to Mount Vale
After having to carry out our monthly Church services virtually for the last year, we are delighted to now be able to welcome back Northallerton All Saints Church.
Residents had a relaxing afternoon enjoying singing hymns and listening to readings.
There were smiles all round, and it was a beautiful moment seeing how happy everyone was to welcome back our monthly church services.
Fun filled afternoon at Mount Vale
What a fabulous afternoon we have had here at Mount Vale!
After the last year we understand how tough it's been for everyone, our staff, residents and families. Now that things are starting to ease and the weather was on our side we decided to arrange a 'Fun Day' this afternoon to show our appreciation for everyone's patience, support and hard work the past year.
Staff pulled out all the stops for the team and residents and it was an afternoon filled of fun! The music was playing, drinks were flowing and games were in full swing.
Thank you to each and every one of you who made today special. Your team effort made the day and we couldn't have done it without you.
