Activities at Mount Vale Care Home
Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from PAT dogs, entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.
Louise Chapman
Hi my name is Louise I have been working at Mount Vale since 2010. I am the activities co-ordinator, I am here to promote the wellbeing of our residents and ensure they have a variety of activities to get involved in. I love finding new creative ways to engage our residents and involve our local community.
I am a dementia champion for the home and enjoy continuing to learn and find more things I can do to help promote the wellbeing of our residents.
I love spending time with each individual getting to know them so I can add individual needs into our plans. I love building strong relationships with our residents and families.
I am a crafty person and can be found doing diamond arts and lots of other creative things when I am not at work. I love spending time with my family and going for walks with my dog Dottie and cuddling my cat Loki.

Virtual Tour of the Scottish Design Galleries
We had a lovely time joining Becca Clark and James Wylie – members of V&A Dundee’s exhibitions team – as they took us on a virtual tour of the museum’s incredible Scottish Design Galleries.
We were introduced to the wide range of unique objects at the galleries from architecture and engineering, jewellery and textiles to theatre and their fascinating stories.
And we were able to learn more about the importance of all objects in telling the rich and varied history of Scottish design.
It was a lovely talk, enjoyed by all.
Autumn preparations in full swing
Residents have been channeling their creativity this afternoon as we get ready for Autumn.
We started off by having a nice relaxing walk around our grounds to collect leaves from the garden where we then got to work to create our very own masterpieces, over a glass of Sherry and a natter.
The afternoon was a great success and the residents can’t wait to show off their impressive artwork to their loved ones.
Sing and Smiles at Mount Vale
We had a fun filled afternoon on Friday as we were joined by the wonderful Matt Jones.
Staff and residents were up dancing and singing along. Music is a large part of life in the home; providing opportunities to come together from all walks of life, to sing, dance, reminisce, and laugh together. There's nothing quite like the power of music to connect people and already we can't wait for our next visit.
Thanks, Matt!
A whale of a time!
We took a wonderful virtual trip to Iceland and visited the SEA LIFE Trust Beluga Whale Sanctuary to have an inside look into the daily care of their two resident beluga whales: Little White and Little Grey.
Our residents were introduced to the history of the Beluga Whale Sanctuary and learnt more about its mission to provide a more natural home for belugas in human care with a first-hand look at how the dedicated team are not only caring for the whales, but preparing for their future in the sea sanctuary!
It was an enjoyable event for everyone, learning more about the amazing beluga whales and how they are cared for at the sanctuary.
A visit from our furry friend, Bambi!
Meet Bambi, a miniature chihuahua and belongs to our Activities Coordinator, Rebecca and has been coming to work with her since she was 5 months old and is now nearly 5.
Our Residents look forward to her visits and love to have cuddles with her, she is very calm and placid and will sit and be cuddled and tickled for hours! She loves spending time in the garden and all the walks she gets.
Bambi is often seen popping into to rooms which residents love. After a lovely afternoon in the garden Elsie decided she wanted to dance so took the opportunity to do this with every member of staff she passed, and made everyone smile.
Snap Happy at Mount Vale
Here at Mount Vale we were delighted to spend some time taking beautiful photos of the outdoors with our residents and our home dog, Bambi to enter the #BaileyBarchester competition following Damian’s amazing virtual photography event.
We all had a wonderful time during our photoshoot and we are happy to say we were impressed with our skills in putting all the tips and ideas learnt during the talk into practice.
Thank you, Damian Bailey Photography.
