Activities at Mount Vale Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from PAT dogs, entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Life at Mount Vale Care Home

Residents have a wartime experience with Blenheim Palace

Ahead of Armed Forces Day, we were transported back in time for a World War II themed talk and tour of Blenheim Palace, hosted by Antonia Keaney, the Palace’s social historian and author.

Entitled ‘Evacuees and Espionage,’ Antonia’s wartime themed talk focused on how the Marlborough family, estate staff and the Palace itself played a full and energetic part in the war effort.

The talk and tour told the story of how the Palace prepared for the worst, survived the onslaught of 400 boys being evacuated to Blenheim and kept the secrets of MI5.

It was a lovely experience, enjoyed by all.

Afternoon at the races

We marked the annual Royal Ascot races over a tea party and used our gaming money to place our winning bets.

Our residents enjoyed the event from the comfort of the home, we watched the races, had conversations about the Royal Ascot fashion and celebrated the occasion with a glass of fizz and delicious treats.

We all had great fun.

Local supermarket donates beautiful flowers

Residents at Mount Vale were delighted with the arrival of flowers kindly donated by the local Sainsbury's supermarket in Northallerton.

Mount Vale's life enrichment programme includes a variety of different activities, with flower arranging being one of the most popular. The beautiful flowers have been very well received, and played a big part in our flower arranging classes.

Thank you Sainsbury's for your kind donation.

Residents and staff celebrate cupcake day

Residents and staff at Mount Vale Care Home had a great day celebrating Cupcake Day in style as there is nothing like cake to bring people together.

Staff pulled out their aprons to bake and decorate a number of cupcakes in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society.

The day was a real treat for our sweet-toothed staff and residents, as we enjoyed tasting our delicious cupcakes, whilst raising funds for the charity.

Residents enjoyed a fun filled afternoon playing Bingo

Residents at Mount Vale enjoyed a fun filled afternoon with a game of competitive Bingo.

They had a great time drinking sherry, having fun and winning some free prizes. There were smiles all around.

As well as helping to keep our residents minds active, Bingo is a great way to promote socialisation and engagement. We look forward to playing again next week and seeing who our winners will be!

Residents discover the history and treasures of Hereford Cathedral

Residents had a lovely afternoon joining the team from Hereford Cathedral as they were given a glimpse of the spectacular building and its treasures as they were taken on a tour of the site.

From the stunning gardens which lead down to the River Wye, to the Mappa Mundi and Chained Library, the virtual visit shared the history and beauty of the historic building.

It was wonderful to learn more about the history and beauty of Hereford Cathedral.
