Activities at Mount Vale Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from PAT dogs, entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

It's beginning to look like Christmas

Residents at Mount Vale are getting into the festive spirit and have been busy decorating the home with their Christmas trees, lights and baubles creating a magical display throughout.  The ladies were kept busy and whilst dressing the tree enjoyed the sounds of classics like ‘mistletoe and wine’ before sitting back to enjoy their results.  It was a fun filled day for all

Bonfire celebrations

Residents of Mount Vale were able to enjoy the homes fireworks display from both sides of the garden so everyone could enjoy them.  Afterwards, a bonfire high tea of hot dogs, jacket potatoes, warming soup, parkin and bonfire cake were served especially created by the homes hospitality team.

Keeping Residents connected

Residents are overjoyed at Mount Vale care home in Northallerton, as Barchester Healthcare has implemented a designated visiting room for residents to continue to spend time with their loved ones for the autumn and winter seasons in addition to the outdoor visiting that has been on offer for those able for many months.

The designated visiting room has been designed with both comfort and safety in mind. The room is similar to a living room with comfortable furnishings and heated to create a welcoming and warm environment for residents to continue to spend time with their loved ones in the upcoming months. The room has an intercom system fitted so residents can clearly communicate, and engage in conversation, whilst being able to see their friends and family through a Perspex glass divider fitted for safety to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

Helen Lewis, General Manager at the home, said: “The designated visiting room has been a much welcomed development for our residents at Mount Vale to continue to receive much looked forward to visits from their loved ones, as the weather changes. Alongside the continued offer of outdoor visiting, the designated room visits are well organised, and a lot of safety measures have been put in place to keep everyone safe. It was wonderful to see how happy it made the residents and their relatives in a warm and cosy environment.”
