Activities at Mount Vale Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from PAT dogs, entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Louise Chapman

Activities Co-ordinator

Hi my name is Louise I have been working at Mount Vale since 2010. I am the activities co-ordinator, I am here to promote the wellbeing of our residents and ensure they have a variety of activities to get involved in. I love finding new creative ways to engage our residents and involve our local community.

I am a dementia champion for the home and enjoy continuing to learn and find more things I can do to help promote the wellbeing of our residents.

I love spending time with each individual getting to know them so I can add individual needs into our plans. I love building strong relationships with our residents and families.

I am a crafty person and can be found doing diamond arts and lots of other creative things when I am not at work. I love spending time with my family and going for walks with my dog Dottie and cuddling my cat Loki.

Green Goddess joins residents

Staff and residents at Barchester’s Mount Vale’s care home in Northallerton were treated to an armchair work out courtesy of the Green Goddess, Diana Moran, and Shackleton’s furniture company, followed by a mindfulness session led by Shackleton’s Emma Raybould.

Diana rose to fame as a glamorous fitness guru on BBC’s Breakfast Time in the 1980’s and has made an outstanding contribution to improving the health and wellbeing of people in the UK. She now brings that experience to Shackletons as their Health and Wellness Adviser.

Home donates to local charity

Mount Vale care home in Northallerton recently presented Northdale Horticulture with a cheque for £700.

Mount Vale has built up excellent reputations within its local community, regularly holding events and activities for residents and surrounding neighbours.

Helen, General Manager at Mount Vale, said: “We are always keen to show as much support as we can to local charities who are providing services to improve the lives of others. We decided to support Northdale Horticulture with it being a local charity but also as a thank you for all the support they have provided us”.

Home hosts Easter Egg hunt

Residents and staff at Mount Vale were delighted to welcome the children from Rosedene Nursery for an Easter egg hunt in the homes garden. Residents  watched from the windows and loved watching the little ones scrabble around finding all of the hidden chocolate eggs! Everyone is looking forward to when the little ones can come back into the home for their weekly reading corner.

A walk in the Spring sunshine

We are very lucky here at Mount Vale to have such beautiful grounds and gardens our residents can enjoy. Spending time in the fresh air looking at flowers and taking a stroll is so important to the wellbeing.  Not only having a stroll is good exercise it just makes you feel so much more refreshed and happy. As you can see Elsie, Kathleen and Betty were having a lovely time.

Indoor Magic!

When the weather is so miserable outside, it’s time to bring the outside inside! Using our Magic Table 360, residents had fun sweeping up leaves that were projected onto the floor. The Magic Table is interactive which meant as our residents brushed, the leaves would rustle and move.

After sweeping up the leaves, we had a fun game of ‘Pop the balloons’ which both residents and staff thoroughly enjoyed.
