Activities at Orchard House Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Musical Entertainment

Musical Entertainment

On the 13th March, we enjoyed a lovely afternoon of live entertainment from Ricky, who comes in every month to sing and play his guitar for everyone.

Getting to Know Me

Getting to Know Me

On Monday 12th March, residents enjoyed an afternoon playing Barchester’s 'Getting to Know Me' with Lifestyle Assistant, Sarah, and Ellyn, our volunteer. The aim of the game is to understand and recognise each individual’s life story. During the game, lots of laughter was shared and everyone left with big smiles on their faces.

Eyes Down!

On Friday 9th March, we enjoyed the afternoon playing bingo. Residents always look forward to trying to win the top prizes.

Joe, our volunteer, joined in as well and supported the residents. Everyone who came appeared to have fun and, at the end of the game, we enjoyed a cuppa whilst chatting as a group.

Reading the Paper

On Friday 9th March, residents enjoyed reading out of the Isle of Wight County Press to find out about what's happening on the island. Our volunteer, Joe, also stopped by to enjoy some time with the residents.

Staying Fit

On the 8th March, we had Suki back for her fun 'Keep Fit' class in the afternoon, which took place in the Valentine dining room. Suki gets the residents motivated to improve their physical well-being, in addition to stimulating social communication within the group.

Getting Creative

On the 7th March, we enjoyed a morning of making pom-poms together in the Bluebell dining room whilst having a chinwag and enjoying a cuppa. Everyone who came along said they had a lot of fun. Some residents joined us to just watch others and have a good chat with everyone. We will continue making and completing unfinished pom-poms and residents said they are looking forward to doing it again.
