Activities at Paternoster House Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Cooling Down

The heat is on at Paternoster House and what better way to cool down than a delicious ice cream!

On hearing the magical tones from Mr B’s Whippy ice cream van today, the activities team sprang into action to flag him down so many of our residents could enjoy a freshly iced 99. Cooling down under the hairdryer has never tasted so good - Happy Summer days are here!

Teddy Bears Picnic

Our residents love a picnic and when it’s a ‘Teddy Bear Picnic’ with the St Lawrence Church Pre School and their parents... it’s simply the best picnic ever!

Yesterday the children joined us to read 'The Hungry Caterpillar' story and we all enjoyed a singalong before taking part in some arts and crafts and eating lots of scrumptious cake.

The children were delightful, full of laughter and fun. They even took time to sing Happy Birthday to our beautiful resident; Linda. We love spending time with the younger generation at Paternoster House. Intergenerational activities are of benefit to everyone’s continued wellbeing.

Happy Carers Week!

We would like to take this opportunity to recognise and thank our wonderful carers at Paternoster House. They deserve all the sweet treats and praise we can give them!

When our activities team decided to ask the residents if they would like to send a message to our carers, they were overwhelmed by the loving responses they received. We will keep them all on display in our reception should you wish to visit and read.

We are so proud of each and every one of our care team for the outstanding care that they provide to our residents every single day. They always go above and beyond their role and for this we are truly grateful.

Fun Times at Southend-On-Sea

Oh we do like to be beside the seaside, beside the sea!

Today we took a trip to Southend-on-Sea where our residents enjoyed a traditional 'battered cod & chips' along the sea front. We then took a ride on the on Southend Pier & Railway. With the train travelling the entire distance of the pier we were able to enjoy the stunning sea views at a leisurely pace.

What better way to finish off an amazing day than relaxing with an ice cream on the beach soaking up the sunshine! All five of our ladies had stories to tell about the memories they had of visiting Southend-on-sea with their husbands.

D-Day 80th Anniversary Remembered

D-Day commemorations started with our Residents making their own bunting in the morning, followed by a lunchtime 'Tea Party' and an afternoon screening of The Longest Day which is a epic war film based on Cornelius Ryan's 1959 non-fiction book about the D-Day landings in Normandy on June 6th 1944.

Kidding Around with Pet Therapy

It was a day for 'kidding' around at Paternoster House today when the Performing Pets team visited with two tiny Pygmy Kids; Rosie and Reuben!

These delectable black and white creatures are the sweetest little things, so tender and snuggly. They tiptoed around the home from room to room, meeting all our residents and stopping on a regular basis for stokes and cuddles. Thank you Performing Pets for another fabulous pet therapy session, the joy in our residents (and staff) faces was clear to see.
