Activities at Paternoster House Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Life at Paternoster House Care Home

Dreams Can Come True
Wishes do come true, as Paternoster House resident Mo found out, when she attended a wonderful performance of Betty Blue Eyes. Mo’s wish was to see her daughter in law a member of the cast singing and dancing. With the best seats in the house she certainly did just that! We all so enjoyed a fantastic show.
We have wish pots in each of our communities within the home, please do let us know if there is a wish we can grant for your love ones.

Bonzo Visits Paternoster House!
We had another lovely visit from Performing Pets who brought along Bonzo a stunning Owl she had a wonderful personality and a fantastic character, she brought so much joy.
Animals can trigger the release of endorphins, a feel-good factor which gives a calming effect and boosts the level of serotonin, a chemical linked with happiness and well-being. We absolutely love the monthly visits from Performing Pets and love that the animals are a surprise each month.

Official Opening of Refurbished Parklands Community
It has been a weekend of celebration in Waltham Abbey, not only did the town celebrate King Harrold Day, but Paternoster House were delighted to officially open our refurbished Parklands Community. Thank you so much to Shane Yerrell, Waltham Abbey's Mayor for cutting the ribbon alongside, Maddie, Senior General Manager and Michael the home's Resident Ambassador. Guests, staff and residents gathered as Shane thanked everyone involved in the refurbishment and spoke about the impact this will have on our residents. We then showed everyone around explaining how this Memory Lane community has been carefully designed for those living with dementia. The celebration continued as everyone chatted over a delicious lunch and residents enjoyed live entertainment. What a wonderful day with a warm atmosphere that welcomes visitors to Paternoster House every day.
The refurbishment has also included the lounges and dining areas in our nursing communities as well as bedrooms and bathrooms within Parklands. We are open for show rounds 7 days a week and are here to discuss and support with all your care needs.

A Trip to the Local!
Good food, good company and once again we were made to feel so welcome at our local pub, The Queens Head and our Mr B knew it as The Bloomers , apparently a good few pints were drunk back in his day!

Puppy Love
Thank you so much to Performing Pets for sharing these adorable poodle puppies; Two Tone Tony and his sister Tilly. They bought so much love into our home with Paternoster House residents and staff over joyed to watch these little characters running and playing along the corridors. They were also very happy to have a cuddle from us all!

George walks for all Nannies and Grandads
Congratulations George for completing the Memory Walk to raise funds for Alzheimer’s Society. George's nanny is a Paternoster House resident and to support the fundraising we have also held a raffle in the home.
The amazing George said "My name is George and I am five years old. My nanny lives at Paternoster House on Memory Lane. My nanny is living with Alzheimers. I am walking to raise money for my nanny and all the other nanny and grandads who have sore heads."
