Activities at Pittsmead Grange Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Hello, my name is Debbie and I am the Activities Co-ordinator at Pittsmead Grange.

This is my first time working for Barchester, I am so excited to be part of such a wonderful team and experience the growth of our beautiful home. Throughout my career I have worked in sports and entertainment including coaching a team of budding athletes. I also have a history of working as an entertainments manager for both Warner and Haven Holidays.

I am really looking forward to supporting our residents in living a full and enriched life every single day in our home.

Life at Pittsmead Grange Care Home

The Dr.Who experience

We recently hosted an afternoon of all things Dr.Who in our cinema at Pittsmead Grange. We were lucky enough that this was presented to us by Egyptologist, Classicist and Cultural Historian John J. Johnston.John lectures throughout the UK at institutions such as BFI (British Film Institute), British Museum and the Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology. We followed the afternoon with a viewing of “City of Death", which is widely regarded by fans as a classic of the Tom Baker era of "Doctor Who" and the best script produced by the Williams / Adams production team.Thank you John, for taking time from your busy schedule, we thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon.

The Autumnal Dream

It’s an all out Autumnal feast for the residents here at Pittsmead Grange. Here we have a lovely Butter Cake with a White Chocolate Ganache frosting, made once again by our superb cake baker, Wendy! Our residents and visitors knew this would be best washed down with a lovely hot drink from our café. The perfect way to spend an Autumn afternoon.

A trip for the gents

This trip was Gents only and they thoroughly enjoyed themselves. At Pittsmead Grange the destination on our minibus trips is always the residents choice. When the warm sun made an appearance, what better thing to do than head for a real country pub experience. So, we decided to pay a visit to The George. The George is a local, premium pub and restaurant with its very own courtyard, centrally located in the heart of the picturesque town of Hayes. We had such a lovely time and can't wait to go back again.

Music for Health

We recently had a visit from the amazing Marina at 'Music for Health' here at Pittsmead Grange.Marina brings so much life to a session, with music, dancing, instruments and laughter. The residents had so much fun, the session really got them moving and we had smiles all round!we cant wait to see Marina again soon for moving and shaking.

A step back in time

Today, we took a step back in time as we visited The Drawing Room Of Locksbottom a beautiful, vintage café.We took our residents from our memory lane community and they thoroughly enjoyed the nostalgic experience. We absolutely love getting out and about, having our minibus is such a privilege.Everyone had such a wonderful morning and who doesn't enjoy a slice of cake?

Baking Club

Baking club this week was all about the cookie here at Pittsmead Grange. The residents personally decorated their cookies with white and milk chocolate. It is safe to say a high level of concentration went in to perfecting their piping techniques. We are now off to taste the finished product ... because that's the way the cookie crumbles!
