Activities at Ritson Lodge Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Life at Ritson Lodge Care Home

Memory Walk

Memory Walk

Several members of staff at Ritson Lodge took part in the Memory Walk for the Alzheimer’s Society at Eaton Park in Norwich. The day started off with rain, but we endured the weather, which eventually became fairly nice. We were joined by Regional Director, Violet Kotu, on the 6km walk, which went around the lovely Eaton Park. Supported by residents, relatives, staff, family members and friends, we managed to raise over £700 for the Alzheimer’s Society, which is a cause close to our hearts.

August's Employee of the Month

August's Employee of the Month

On behalf of everyone at Ritson Lodge, we would like to congratulate Kitchen Assistant, David, on becoming August’s Employee of the Month. David was nominated by his colleagues for always being approachable and helpful and having such a positive personality.

The Queen's Birthday Party

The Queen's Birthday Party

We love a reason to have a party and celebrate here at Ritson Lodge - and what better way to celebrate the Queen’s birthday than with a street party?! The kitchen staff worked extremely hard to make a brilliant buffet that was tasty enough for the Queen. The food didn’t stop there though; Jo worked with some of the residents to bake some cakes and spent time decorating them with the Queen’s face on icing paper. Many of the residents and relatives sat in the garden and enjoyed some drinks. The rain didn’t stop us, as the party moved indoors after lunch, where we all sat and enjoyed watching and singing along to Ken Dalton. A great day was had by all!

Charity Head Shave

Charity Head Shave

Brenda, a relative of a resident, showed extreme courage by having her head shaved here at Ritson Lodge in an effort to raise money for the Huntington’s Disease Association. Here is a word from Brenda herself:

“We wish to thank everyone that helped to raise money for The Huntington’s Awareness Week. We raised over £300 on the day here at Ritson Lodge through the raffle, tombola and the sale of cakes. Thank you to everyone who helped on the day and to Jo for shaving my head - I quite like it. It was a great day all round."

Employee of the Month - May

Employee of the Month - May

As you may have seen, Employee of the Month has been a resounding success, and many members of staff (mainly care staff) have been recognised and praised for the hard work they do every single day! In May, it was great to see that Employee of the Month was a member of staff in a completely different department of the home; on behalf of everyone at Ritson Lodge, we would like to congratulate our Second Chef, John Whelan, on becoming our May Employee of the Month. John was nominated for giving meals a great deal of thought and taking care to fulfill necessary criteria. One nomination stated that John is an ‘unsung hero’. Well done, John!

Ritson Lodge's April Employee of the Month

Ritson Lodge's April Employee of the Month

Another month has flown by and another member of the care team has been recognised for the excellent work that they do each day. Congratulations to Carer, Kayleigh Barrett, who has been nominated by both staff, residents and relatives. One nomination states that Kayleigh is "always happy to provide extra time and help," and another says that she "always goes the extra mile." It is fantastic to keep being reminded of the superb team we have here at Ritson Lodge - and we strive to continue to provide this excellent care!
