Activities at Shawford Springs Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
Joanne Gadd
Hello, I am Joanne. I have worked as an activities coordinator for over seven years. In that time I have built a wealth of skills, knowledge and experience in designing and implementing activities that will support the mind, body and soul. I have a passion for delivering person centred sessions and will strive to ensure our weekly programme is engaging for all. I love organising events and am continually looking for ways to connect with our local community.

Life at Shawford Springs Care Home
Poppies Galore
Each Monday we run a Knit and Natter community group in our cafe, this week Poppies were on the schedule in readiness for Remembrance Day. We are also starting work on our next project ..... a festive knitted tree for Christmas
The group meet on Monday mornings from 11.30-12.30, everyone is welcome
Knit and Natter news...It's Poppy Season
One of our lovely knit & natter club members Jean has been busy knitting red squares which will be turned into poppies for a Remembrance Day wreath. What a great effort - we can’t wait to see the finished result!
Chocks away....
We recently enjoyed a brilliant trip to the Army Flying Museum near Stockbridge
It was a particularly special visit for Alan, as he used to work at the Army Aviation Centre which is situated next door to the museum. Alan spent much of his career doing aviation artwork & drawings and was thrilled to be able to see some of the planes that he has worked with over the years on display at the museum.
Flowers Galore
We had a lovely community event for residents and visitors recently when we were joined by Louise from Creative Flora who kindly gave an afternoon presentation on a beautiful seasonal floral arrangement
The results were simply stunning and the smell of fresh herbs amongst the flowers has filled the home with beautiful scent
Keeping Active ...the fun way
We’d like to say a big thank you to our wonderful keep fit instructor, Karen for another fantastic exercise class this week
Karen’s sessions are designed to give the body a full workout from head to toe, with movements & stretches that can be done either standing or seated & adapted to suit different abilities.
They are also always lively, fun & full of laughter!
The Birthday Girls....
We've had two of our lovely lady residents who celebrated Birthdays with us recently....
A very Happy Birthday to Elisa and Jean on your very special days....
