Activities at Sherwood Court Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Life at Sherwood Court Care Home

Musical mystery tour

Our homes had a brilliant time with curator Sarah Deters as she took us on a virtual ‘Music Through the Ages’ tour of St Cecilia’s Hall: Concert Room and Music Museum.

Our residents were thrilled to discover weird and wonderful musical instruments, hear their unusual sounds, and find out how instruments have changed over the last 500 years.

The virtual live event explored the world-renown collection of musical instruments on display at St Cecilia’s Hall, Scotland’s oldest concert hall.

Summer fun

The sun was shining as residents, families and friends joined together for our annual Summer Fair with a whopping £150 being raised for our residents comfort fund.  The homes hospitality team whipped up mouth-watering treats for everyone to enjoy.  Thank you to everyone who kindly donated and coming along to make this so successful. It was a great day!

A trip to the pub

Today Residents managed to take a trip to the local pub for a spot of lunch and a change of scenery.  Some relatives were able to join us too for a catch up.  We look forward to the next trip!

Ruby

Here at Sherwood Court we try to create a homely atmosphere and as most of our residents have had a pet in their life time and miss the comfort of a animal, we are lucky to have Ruby, a 5 month old Staffordshire bull terrier, to visit most weeks to have a bit of puppy love with the residents and reminisce.

BHC Care Awards 2022 - Divisional Winner

We are proud to announce that Lynn Cornwell  has been crowned Customer Experience Champion of the Year for the North Division in this year’s Barchester Care Awards and is through to the national round of judging.

More than 2,950 nominations were received from all Barchester homes and hospitals across the UK. All entries were a very high standard and Lynn is over the moon to have been named the winner for the division, beating hundreds of other nominees.

Our divisional winner, Lynn is through to the national finals in which the overall winner is decided. She will join winners from across the UK at a special awards event in October to celebrate their outstanding achievements and discover if they have won a national award. Huge congratulations, well deserved!

Opera performance

Our homes had a fabulous time with the talented soprano Astrid Joos from Street Theatre.  Astrid spoke about a selection of famous operas and our residents were treated to performances of wonderful arias from operas well-known to all, such as ‘Giuditta’, ‘Don Giovanni’ and ‘Le Nozze di Figaro’.

It was a lovely experience, truly enjoyed by all.
