Activities at South Grange Care Home
Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.
Gillian Conway
Gill has worked for South Grange since 1996. Gill's role in the home is ensuring our residents enjoy a fulfilling quality of life. The programme that Gill and her colleagues provide is stimulating, creative and varied.
Gill enjoys the time she spends with residents and families. The team welcomes any suggestions made by residents and family members in relation to activities.

Life at South Grange Care Home
Cycling without Age
Residents enjoyed having a new experience on the Trishaws as we had another amazing visit from Cycling Without Age Scotland Monifieth. Joyce had a great time with her daughter who joined the ride while enjoying the glorious sunshine we have had this week! David and Lorna had such a great time they were ready to go around again!
After our visit everyone joined for our Grange Gathering for refreshments and freshly baked delicious cakes while taking part in our themed quiz.
Celebrating National Donut Day
We certainly had a fun-filled afternoon of decorating our donuts with chocolate, sprinkles and lots more toppings and a chat about all things donuts.
All of the residents shared a cuppa and enjoyed their donuts in the garden whilst the sun was shining.
It was a lovely afternoon enjoyed by all.
Pets at the Palaces with Jon Sleigh
Residents across our services had a delightful time during a special virtual sensory storytelling event, led by Art Historian Jon Sleigh from the Historic Royal Palaces.
Jon took us on a journey to discover some of the more unusual and unexpected inhabitants of the palaces and the Tower of London, sharing fascinating stories about the pets at the palaces.
Whilst enjoying the virtual experience, our residents were treated to hot beverages, delicious biscuits, berries and cakes. It was a truly lovely time for all.
A Trip to the Garden Centre
What a fun morning we all had.
Our residents had an amazing time travelling in our minibus to the local garden centre, where they enjoyed a coffee and cake. They were able to enjoy a morning of relaxation looking at the variety of flowers and plants.
We had a fantastic time.
Movie Night
South Grange residents had a wonderful afternoon watching Top Gun Maverick movie. They were served hot dogs and refreshments from our very own usherettes. Some of the residents had watched the original Top Gun which was released in 1986 and said the new one was as good.
20 Years of Service
Catherine, a nurse at South Grange, has received a prestigious 20 Year Service Award in celebration of working at Barchester Healthcare for 20 years.
Catherine started at Barchester in May 2003 and has worked with residents and their relatives to ensure that their needs have been met over the years.
She was presented with a lovely cake display prepared by our talented chef.
Thank you Catherine for all of your kindness and care for everyone.
