Activities at South Grange Care Home
Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.
Gillian Conway
Gill has worked for South Grange since 1996. Gill's role in the home is ensuring our residents enjoy a fulfilling quality of life. The programme that Gill and her colleagues provide is stimulating, creative and varied.
Gill enjoys the time she spends with residents and families. The team welcomes any suggestions made by residents and family members in relation to activities.

Life at South Grange Care Home
Burns' Night Celebrations
Residents and staff at South Grange Care Home had a great day and night celebrating Robert Burns and all that he was known for. In the afternoon residents tested their knowledge with a quiz about the man himself, along with a sing along to some of his famous songs followed on with residents reciting their favourite poem. The poems included Scots wha hae, Tam o’Shanter and A Red, red rose.
In the evening our Piper Thomas (who plays for our local Monifieth BB Pipe band) came along to pipe the haggis in and entertain our residents with a few Scottish tunes, which everyone appreciated. Followed by tucking into haggis neeps and tatties prepared by our head chef.
Cheese and Wine tasting
Our activities team organised a cheese and wine afternoon for residents to sample a selection of different types of cheese and wines.
Residents and their family enjoyed guessing which wine was perfect to accompany the cheese. A fantastic afternoon for everybody involved - Well done activities team!
Royal Parks London
Across our services our residents have enjoyed a wonderful live virtual talk about starlings, one of the UK’s most gregarious birds, hosted by Rachel Dowse from The Royal Parks London.
Rachel examined our long history with this bird and the importance of common species to our lives. Our residents had the opportunity to find out more about the great murmuration and why we need to pay special attention to these beauties before it's too late.
The virtual experience was truly enjoyed by all.
New Year's Lunch
Residents enjoyed celebrating the New Year with a celebratory lunch prepared by our chef and a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks to raise a toast to the New Year.
Residents chatted about their new year’s resolutions and what they would like to continue to achieve this year.
Lots of Christmas Period Birthdays
Wilma, Christine and Elizabeth celebrated their birthdays with staff and family. They were surrounded with cards, gifts and a delicious home-made cake prepared by the homes hospitality team!
Christmas Day at South Grange
Residents at South Grange had a fantastic Christmas Day, which involved singing and dancing, family visits followed by a beautiful festive lunch with turkey, roast potatoes, pigs in blankets, puddings and more.
In the morning residents had gifts delivered to open before joining everyone in the dining room to celebrate with a glass of bubbly before the festive feast, prepared by our talented chef and kitchen team.
After lunch residents continued celebrating Christmas with movies, reminiscing about previous festive memories and spending time with family.
