Activities at Southgate Beaumont Care Community

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Life at Southgate Beaumont Care Community

The London Children's Ballet perform at Southgate Beaumont

It was pliés and pas de deux all the way at Southgate Beaumont care home, in Southgate as residents and staff had the pleasure of enjoying a beautiful performance of Snow White from the London’s Children Ballet.

The history of ballet dates back to the 15th century in Italy and France, the dance was often performed by noblemen and women in the royal courts and was known as ballet de cour.  In the 19th century, ballet gradually evolved to the classical techniques we know today and it was during this period that famous ballets such as Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty and The Nutcracker were created.

The London’s children ballet offers a chance for young performers to bring their dancing into a care environment, benefiting people who might not normally get the chance to experience this type of performance. Residents experienced exquisite dancing and stunning costumes in the comfort our beautiful terrace lounge.

General Manager, Beatrice Godfrey said: “We’ve all had a brilliant day today.  Our residents loved watching the ballet with their families and making new memories.” One of our residents, Irene, was so happy and mentioned she had been transported to a different world.

Beryl, resident at the home said: “I have always loved ballet, I think it is absolutely magical and beautiful to watch. I love how timeless the famous ballets are, I never tire of them.  If I had my time over, I would love to be a ballet dancer!”

Congratulations to our very own Beatrice who receives 10 year long service award.

Beatrice Godfrey, General Manager and Registered Nurse, started at Barchester in September 2013 and has worked with residents and their relatives to ensure that they receive first class care and support over the years.

Did you know that Beatrice is the longest serving Care Home Manager in the whole of the London Borough of Enfield.

Residents, their loved ones and the team at Southgate Beaumont arranged a surprise party for Beatrice to celebrate this achievement and show their appreciation.

Wayne Hughes, Regional Director of The London Region at Barchester Healthcare said: “We’re delighted to be celebrating 10 years of loyal service with Beatrice Godfrey. Beatrice has demonstrated her dedication and loyalty to this home and its residents year after year. I speak for all of us here at Barchester Healthcare, when I say that we are so very proud of our colleague and Southgate Beaumont and the fantastic environment Beatrice and her team have created. I’m looking forward to many more years of working with her!”

Local History Talk with U3A at Southgate Beaumont.

A wonderful trip down memory lane and a informative insight into what Southgate and the surrounding areas looked like many years ago.

It was also so fascinating to see what our beautiful home looked like all the way back in 1883.

With interesting slides and lots of fun facts it was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Thank you to our local friend Colin from U3A for this lovely talk.

A Lively Afternoon

A wonderful afternoon was had by all when Talia and her accordion came for a visit.

Talia is full of fun with a beautiful voice and vivacious personality. She really brought her accordion to life playing a huge mixture of classics and modern hits.

Residents were up dancing and singing and it was so special to see everyone having such a great time.

Music connects us all and seeing our residents respond so well makes it such a joy to watch.

We all said how uplifted we felt and we are now looking forward to her next visit.

Marjorie in the garden

Marjorie just loves being out in our beautiful grounds and she was so grateful when we had a lovely sit in the garden in the sunshine so she could admire all the beautiful flowers.

After a recent fall Marjorie can't go too far so it makes such a difference to her knowing that she can enjoy the garden whenever she wants too.

Marjorie loves to chat and she was full of stories as we sat together.

She was so delighted and happy and just kept saying Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.
