Activities at The Spires Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Angie Smith

Activities Coordinator

Hi, my name is Angie and I am an activities coordinator here at The Spires. We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within the home and we work together to give residents the best possible experience. We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active.

We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centered program of events and activities. Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents and their families and friends.

Festa Della Republica

We had lots of fun celebrating Italian Independence Day.

Reuniting Loved Ones

Residents have been celebrating being able to go out on short trips with their designated visitors.

Margaret was the first resident to go out and was thrilled to be going out to a cafe for a slice of cake and a cup of tea with her daughter, Julia, granddaughter, Fiona and great granddaughter, Orla.

We are all so pleased at this step back towards normality!

Out & About... Finally

Staff and residents at The Spires were celebrating being able to go on short excursions again as lockdown restrictions ease across the country. Residents are now able to go on a short trip to outdoor spaces without having to isolate on their return.

Residents from The Spires enjoyed a long-awaited trip to Lichfield Cathedral, where they were able to enjoy a walk and a tour of the historic architecture.

World Health Day

Our residents have celebrated World Health Day. As we age, it is so important to maintain our health and keep active.

Here at The Spires, we are passionate about keeping active so we thought this was a great opportunity to enjoy a seated exercise and movement to music class.

We reminisced about our past sporting exploits whilst enjoying fresh fruit platter and mocktails.

Easter Fun

We all had such a fabulous Easter. The Easter Bunny visited The Spires and all our residents enjoyed Easter eggs.

As part of the lead up to Easter, our residents spent some time flexing our creative muscles and making Easter bonnets and Easter biscuits.

We also hid some Easter eggs in our local area for our local community to enjoy.
