Activities at The Spires Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.
Angie Smith
Hi, my name is Angie and I am an activities coordinator here at The Spires. We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within the home and we work together to give residents the best possible experience. We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active.
We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centered program of events and activities. Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents and their families and friends.

Life at The Spires Care Home
Easter
Residents enjoyed an eggs-tensive range of Easter activities, from attending a Zoom church service, Easter cake-making to a fantastic Easter bonnet parade! Residents also tucked in to a delicious Easter meal of roast lamb followed by Easter cake (which they decorated themselves) prepared by the home’s chef Polly.
Grand Nationals
Residents at The Spires care home in Lichfield were treated to a virtual trip to the races to celebrate the Grand National. Staff at the care home pulled out all the stops to give the residents an afternoon to remember. They rolled out the red carpet, chilled the pink fizz and served delicious canapes so that residents felt like royalty.
Fine Dining
Residents at The Spires Care Home are thrilled to be welcoming their family back in to enjoy our fine dining with them. Resident Barbara was the first to invite her daughter and son-in law to enjoy a meal with her.
Mother's Day
We celebrated Mother’s Day with visits and video calls from family members near and far. The home was beautifully decorated with fresh flowers and bunting for the occasion. Staff arranged a fabulous afternoon tea for the residents and flowers to be delivered.
Van Gogh Day
Staff and residents spent the day learning about Van Gogh’s life and his distinct style of painting, virtually visiting galleries to look at his art and virtually visiting the places he lived where a great deal of his inspiration came from. Then the real fun began as the residents and staff tried their hand at recreating some his artworks whilst adding their own creative flair into the mix.
International Women’s Day
Residents at The Spires Care Home marked International Women’s Day (IWD) on March 8th by spending the day celebrating the achievements of wonderful trail-blazing women throughout history.
IWD takes place on March 8th every year to celebrate women’s rights and inspire people to fight for gender equality. A United Nations-sanctioned global holiday, IWD celebrates women’s contributions to society, raises awareness about the fight for gender parity and inspires support for organisations that support women globally.
Residents enjoyed a talk from the Lichfield Soroptomists about their organisation's role in the lives of women both locally and further afield. They talked about the important women in their own lives and celebrated the achievements of their fellow residents.
Amy Doyle, General Manager at The Spires Care Home, said: “We’ve all had a really interesting day thinking about the very many amazing women who have had such an impact on our lives, whether that was an historic figure or people in our own family. It was good to share our experiences, take stock and reflect on how much society has changed over the years.”
Resident, Margaret commented: "I've really enjoyed the talk and thinking about all the ways we as women have been shaping our local community."
