Activities at The Spires Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Angie Smith

Activities Coordinator

Hi, my name is Angie and I am an activities coordinator here at The Spires. We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within the home and we work together to give residents the best possible experience. We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active.

We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centered program of events and activities. Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents and their families and friends.

Pinders Awards Finalists

Barchester has made it through to the final stages of the Pinders Healthcare Design Awards for the design of The Spires.

The prestigious Healthcare Design Awards, organised by Pinders, aim to promote and recognise the very best developments in all types of care-related property, whilst the award categories seek to acknowledge the contribution made by home owners, designers and architects to the well-being and quality of life for those in their care.

As a prize for being a finalist the judges presented the Barchester team  with a cheque of £500 for their chosen charity, Barchester's Charitable Foundation, a charity that provides grants to individuals and community groups to combat loneliness in the elderly throughout the UK.

The team at The Spires, led by General Manager, Fran Sharp, will be cheering the Barchester Property Team on at The Pinders Healthcare Design Awards ceremony, which will be held at The Royal Lancaster London Hotel on Wednesday 13th March 2019.

Horsin' Around

Horsin' Around

We had a visit from 2 lovely horses from an organisation called ‘Lollipop’. The residents all really enjoyed petting the horses – one was called ‘Rolo’ and the other was ‘Elsa’ – and they got the opportunity to feed carrots to them as well. Elsa & Rolo were very calm and gentle!
