Activities at The Spires Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.
Angie Smith
Hi, my name is Angie and I am an activities coordinator here at The Spires. We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within the home and we work together to give residents the best possible experience. We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active.
We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centered program of events and activities. Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents and their families and friends.

Taking a Break
Members of the local ambulance service can been seen above using their new Barchester thermos mugs and taking a much-need break with a hot drink whilst enjoying our homemade cakes.
Community Engagement
Beverley Cole, one of our Senior Carers, manned our stall at a local careers exhibition event. There were a lot of visitors and Beverley was able to answer questions about our home and the the roles we are recruiting for.

Remembrance Service
We held a remembrance service on 8th November in honour of all of those who have fallen in the line of duty, and invited residents, families and members of the British Legion.
The event was wonderful; the standard bearer from the British Legion gave us readings, and our General Manager, Fran, read ‘In Flanders Fields’. Fran, along with 2 residents, placed the British Legion wreath, and 3 sixth form pupils then performed 2 songs for us, which were very moving. Marcin, our Chef, then treated us all to some port and sherry, along with some homemade truffles.
Volunteer Scrabble
Bill from St Chad’s Church has very kindly agreed to visit residents once a week, and he started his first day with a game of Scrabble with our Resident Ambassador.
Bill will visit all residents and spend time chatting and going out on trips with us. After 1 day, he already feels like part of our family.
999 Coffee Stop
Jamie from Lichfield ambulance service popped in to see us and have some coffee and cake between call outs. The Spires has given an open invitation to the local ambulance team and all local 999 teams that they are welcome to pop in any time for cake and a drink as a thank you for supporting the community.
