Activities at Stamford Bridge Beaumont Care Home

The activity team within our home spend a lot of time committing themselves to organising a range of activities for residents. This includes, pet therapy, trips out to local places of interest, visits from entertainers and musicians, bingo, one to one pamper time, weekly quizzes, coffee mornings, arts and crafts and baking. Activities are considered to be a crucial aspect of our home as residents look forward to upcoming events. As a result, it is essential that our team work together with dedication, to ensure residents are entertained and involved in as many activities as possible.

Michael Lythgoe

Activities Lead

I have worked in the care sector for 36 years, initially working for the NHS at Brandesburton Hospital as a care assistant. When the hospital closed I transferred to Townend Court and continued as a care assistant on the forensic ward for people with a learning disability. It was whilst working with the Occupational therapists at Townend that I discovered my passion for engaging the patients in activities of their choosing, I’m quite artistic and creative so it was an easy transition

I have many years’ experience working with the older generation and those who live with dementia, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and other diagnosis’.

I am really looking forward to bring both my experience and passion to my new role and to see the positive impact on our resident population.

Zoolab - June 2017

We had a fabulous visit from Zoolab; they came in and brought some lovely creatures with them. We all had fun holding them and learning some interesting facts.

Our Fabulous Visit with Ruth Strangeway

We had a very fun afternoon with Ruth Strangeway. Ruth brings new ideas to Stamford Bridge, combining exercise with music. We had so much fun singing along, exercising, playing games and using musical instruments - and generally having a fantastic afternoon. Thank you, Ruth, for coming to our home.

Memory Boxes

Memory Boxes

We have been putting together some memory boxes for residents in our Memory Lane community so they can spend time looking through them with loved ones and staff to hopefully recall some lovely memories. One resident loves the Eddie Stobart trucks, so Activities Assistant, Zoe, contacted them to see if they would kindly send us some pictures for the memory boxes. A big thank you to them for taking time out to send us some pictures of their fabulous trucks - it was a very kind gesture and is much appreciated.

Sing and Dancing with Carla

Sing and Dancing with Carla

We had a fabulous visit from the lovely Carla, who came to sing and dance for residents. Carla always puts on a great show and we all really enjoy her visits. She sings songs we all know and everyone loves singing and dancing along. Pictured is Carla and a resident having a cuddle.

Acomb Pets

We had a fantastic visit from Acomb Pets, who brought in some exotic animals for us all to look at. Everyone had great fun holding all the little creatures, which included tarantulas, bearded dragons, snakes, turtles and an albino hedgehog. Thank you to Acomb Pets for coming in.

Baking Session

Baking Session

We had a fantastic baking session recently. Residents really enjoy baking and we have so much fun chatting about when we would bake with our mums. When we have finished baking, we normally sit around the table and sample our results with a nice cup of tea and discuss what we would like to bake next and other activities we would like to do.
