Activities at Stamford Bridge Beaumont Care Home

The activity team within our home spend a lot of time committing themselves to organising a range of activities for residents. This includes, pet therapy, trips out to local places of interest, visits from entertainers and musicians, bingo, one to one pamper time, weekly quizzes, coffee mornings, arts and crafts and baking. Activities are considered to be a crucial aspect of our home as residents look forward to upcoming events. As a result, it is essential that our team work together with dedication, to ensure residents are entertained and involved in as many activities as possible.

Michael Lythgoe

Activities Lead

I have worked in the care sector for 36 years, initially working for the NHS at Brandesburton Hospital as a care assistant. When the hospital closed I transferred to Townend Court and continued as a care assistant on the forensic ward for people with a learning disability. It was whilst working with the Occupational therapists at Townend that I discovered my passion for engaging the patients in activities of their choosing, I’m quite artistic and creative so it was an easy transition

I have many years’ experience working with the older generation and those who live with dementia, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and other diagnosis’.

I am really looking forward to bring both my experience and passion to my new role and to see the positive impact on our resident population.

Our Visit From Carla

Our Visit From Carla

We had a fabulous afternoon on Wednesday; we had a lovely visit from Carla who came to sing and dance for residents. Carla really puts everything into her performances and gets residents involved with singing and dancing. Carla sings songs thats residents know and love, which means they enjoy joining in with her.

Junior School's Harvest Festival

Junior School's Harvest Festival

A few weeks ago we, were very excited to receive an invite to the Stamford Bridge Junior School Harvest Festival. When we arrived at the school, we were showed to our tables and the pupils served us home-made soup, which they had helped to prepare, and fresh rolls that were absolutely delicious. We also enjoyed tea, coffee and cakes. The children and staff looked after us and made us feel so welcome - it was an honour for us to be there. The children and the community choir also sang for us, which was a lovely treat.

We would like to thank the school for a lovely afternoon.

Matt Jones Sings for Stamford

Matt Jones Sings for Stamford

We had a fabulous visit from Matt Jones here at the Beaumont recently. Matt is a new singer that we hired, and he just overflows with confidence; he sings songs from the rock and roll times, and residents just love to sing along with him. Matt also brings musical instruments along for residents to play. We all had such a fun afternoon!

Cupcake Week

Cupcake Week

We recently celebrated cupcake week; our kitchen staff made some delicious cupcakes and we delivered them around the communities. Residents commented on how nice they looked and tasted. As cakes are a favourite here at the Beaumont, they were very much enjoyed.

We had an excellent visit from Zoo lab recently. They bought some very exotic animals in for us to take a look at, including an African land snail, a giant African millipede, a Chilean rose tarantula and many others. We all enjoyed learning about them, and George and Hannah were very knowledgeable and told us some great facts about these beautiful creatures. We had a lovely afternoon - thank you for your great visit.
