Activities at Station Court Care Home
Activities make up the most important part of all our days, and at Station Court we ensure there are a variety of social events that reflect the individual interests and capabilities of people we support. All group and individual activities are designed to not only mentally and physically stimulate the people we care for, but to enhance their life skills and feelings of purpose and self worth. All of our team are committed to supporting a full activities programme within the home.
Carly Chesney
Hi, my name is Carly and I am the homes Activities Coordinator. I joined the home in 2011. I am passionate about our enhancing our residents daily life and delivering a person centred life enrichment activity programme is very important to me to ensure that our residents continue to lead fulfilling lives doing things that they want to and enjoy. Our programme is varied from excursions out on the mini bus ensuring our residents are connected to their local community, hosting events here in the home, virtual events and themed days – no day is the same!

Life at Station Court Care Home
Politics and Passion at Cliveden
We were treated to an amazing live virtual talk and a tour of Cliveden, hosted by the house and chapel guides from the National Trust Talks Service.
The volunteers kindly gave us a tour around the famous house taking an in-depth look at Cliveden’s many stories from its 350 year history, from devilish dukes to scandalous headlines and boundary-breaking garden designs to political notoriety.
Starting with the Duke of Buckingham who built the first house in 1666, our residents met the key owners who helped shape the house and its gardens including the Orkney, Sutherland and Astor families.
The talk was accompanied by an illustrated presentation which brought to life these individuals and showed how their influence at Cliveden still continues today.
Buddy Holly Day
We had great fun celebrating the great rock and roll star Buddy Holly on the ‘day the music died’ After making masks and decorations we sang along and danced to his greatest hits, took part in a quiz and joined a virtual talk on buddy Hollys life history.
Oh we do like to be by the seaside!
Despite a storm brewing outside we enjoyed a jam packed day on an themed trip to the seaside. We played games such as ‘guess the beach, beach ball, skittles and parachute games and had a relaxation wave session. We took in the sights of seaside trips through the eras and reminisced on how things have changed using technology to take us on our travels. Residents had a sing along to well-known seaside themed songs before tucking into fish and chips from our local chip shop takeaway and ended our day making mini wooden beach huts to display. We are all ready for summer time!
A coffee with NESCAFE
We had a fabulous time joining NESCAFÉ’s virtual coffee experience.
We were able to look into how they sustainably farm their coffee beans, as well as, to have a virtual tour of one of their factories all from the comfort of our home.
To make things even more interesting, our residents had the chance to test their knowledge with an interactive quiz, and to the delight of all to taste the signature Sweet Cinnamon Shaken Iced Coffee cocktail.
Love is in the air for Valentine's
Residents and couples who reside at Station Court Care home, in Ashington celebrated Valentine’s Day together. Colleagues at the home were delighted to assist Ronnie in treating his lovely wife, Jean to a special 3 course lunch especially prepared by the homes hospitality team, making this Valentines as special as all of the rest that he and his wife have spent together.
The pair shared a private dining suite, with colleagues catering to their every wish.
They loved-up couple enjoyed their 3 course meal, glasses of prosecco and chocolate treats before sharing gifts with each other. They listened to their favourite songs by Frank Sinatra, bringing back memories of their wedding day.
Century celebrations
Celebrations have been in full swing at Station Court Care Home as one of its residents reached her centenary in style.
Betsy Lightly was joined by staff and relatives as she opened special gifts and received a telegram from the Queen in recognition of her landmark birthday.
She then joined her party to a prosecco reception with all her friends in the home and popular entertainer, Michael Stevens performing her favourite rock and roll hits, which had everyone on their feet dancing. Celebrations ended on a high with a special afternoon tea party provided by our hospitality team.
