Activities at Station Court Care Home

Activities make up the most important part of all our days, and at Station Court we ensure there are a variety of social events that reflect the individual interests and capabilities of people we support. All group and individual activities are designed to not only mentally and physically stimulate the people we care for, but to enhance their life skills and feelings of purpose and self worth. All of our team are committed to supporting a full activities programme within the home.

Carly Chesney

Activities Coordinator

Hi, my name is Carly and I am the homes Activities Coordinator.  I joined the home in 2011.  I am passionate about our enhancing our residents daily life and delivering a person centred life enrichment activity programme is very important to me to ensure that our residents continue to lead fulfilling lives doing things that they want to and enjoy. Our programme is varied from excursions out on the mini bus ensuring our residents are connected to their local community, hosting events here in the home, virtual events and themed days – no day is the same!

Valentine's inspired cookery demo

We had a lovely time joining Chef Alex Connell from Vegetarian for Life for a Valentine’s-inspired virtual cookery demonstration.  Chef Alex created some delicious Valentine’s Day-inspired vegetarian desserts, which our residents had the opportunity to try too.

First, our residents sampled a wonderful sticky toffee pudding, which was absolutely heavenly. Then they tried hazelnut truffles which were a huge hit and finally they were treated to a chocolate orange cake which everyone adored.

Choc-tastic day!

Residents had a ‘choc-tastic’ day celebrating the sweetest day of the year! Creating a chocolate masterpiece 2 tier cake along with chocolate cupcakes topped with melted chocolate and frosting and extra chocolate toppings for everyone to enjoy at tea time

Birthday celebrations

We had an amazing day celebrating a special ladies 90th birthday!  The birthday girl spent her morning with family in our visiting suite before joining friends in the home for a special party with Michaela from Musical Memories entertaining us all! Our dancing queen never sat down until it was time for afternoon tea, prosecco and of course cake!

New Year's Eve

Residents loved getting ready for new year decorating cakes and making decorations for around the home on the lead up to the big day. We shared stories of how celebrations have changed over the years and reminisced.

Afterwards we celebrated together at our New year’s party with special guest Phil Corrigan entertaining us all singing all the hits to get us on our feet dancing! We toasted the year in with a glass of bubbly (or a few) and of course danced to Auld lang syne – Everybody had a ball!   Wishing everyone health, strength and happiness in 2022 from us all at Station Court.

A festive day of wooden crafts on our memory lane community as residents made a traditional nativity display and Santa's sleigh ready for display. The ladies were very proud of the finished pieces and with more tree decorating fun .. we may be finished by the 25th!

Carol concert

It certainly wasnt a 'silent night' in Station Court as we joined Shelter's one voice choir for a wonderful evening of christmas carol sing a longs. Residents got into the festive spirit, enjoyed festive nibbles, hot mulled wine and sparkling bucks fizz. It was a wonderful way to spend an evening!
