Activities at Sutton Grange Care Home
Here at Sutton Grange we work really hard at providing a range of activities to suit our residents needs. We understand that everyone is different and we enjoy supporting our residents in whatever activities they would like to take part in. With a dedicated Activities co-ordinator and a friendly team of volunteers we are always busy with activities. We have several clubs including; gardening, film, craft, music, puzzles, and singing. We enjoy live music and entertainment, both in and outside of the home, and have regular outings on the minibus to local places of interest. Residents take part in animal assisted therapy, afternoon tea, arts and crafts classes, and visits from local community groups and school children. We believe it is important to provide stimulating, meaningful and relevant activities for our residents in order to make friends, and build a warm community to live.
Alison Wareing
Hi, I'm Alison. I am the Activities Co-ordinator here at Sutton Grange, I joined the team in 2016.
I grew up in the local area and started my career working with animals. After I had my daughter, and before I joined Barchester, I trained as a teacher and taught lipreading and communication. The skills I learnt have been invaluable in my role today.
Now, I fill my days spending time with our wonderful Residents, helping them to live their lives to the fullest. I try to make a difference in someone’s life each day.

Life at Sutton Grange Care Home
Residents enjoy a good sing-a-long
We love a good sing-a-long at Sutton Grange and our residents had a wonderful time singing and dancing along to the golden oldies of the 50’s and 60’s. Everyone was soon dancing and toe-tapping along too.
Halloween decorations
We have been preparing for our Halloween Masquerade Ball by making lots of decorations and carving some pumpkins. Everyone had a wonderful time and they now stand proud of place in our bistro awaiting our Masquerade Ball.
Creative writing with Mike Gayle
We had a great time joining journalist and novelist, Mike Gayle, for an intriguing virtual interview, during which he shared top tips for creative writing with our residents and read passages from his latest book, All the Lonely People.
We were thrilled to find out about Mike’s background, to understand what led him to become a writer and his creative process.
It was a lovely talk, enjoyed by all, especially by our keen writers at the home.
Mocktails with Unilever
We had a lovely time joining Paul Hawkins and Lisa Richards from Unilever for an exciting Virtual Cruise experience.
Our residents were welcomed with mocktails as Lisa and Paul took them on a magical journey to 3 mystery destinations, which were uncovered after a few clues.
Paul demonstrated how to create a few of the local traditional dishes, which our residents had the opportunity to try too.
The event evoked lots of great memories and it was truly enjoyed by all.
Booster vaccinations
Staff and residents here at Sutton Grange have recently received our Covid19 Booster Vaccinations. Having the vaccine booster is part of our ongoing protection against Covid19. Many thanks to the staff from our local surgery Beacon Primary Care who came to administer the booster vaccinations.
International Pirate Day
We had a wonderful time celebrating International Pirate Day. We had our photos taken which made us into pirates, we sang along to pirate sea shanties and held a pirate quiz and fact session and decorated some pirate shaped biscuits which went down a treat. We all had a great time engaging in our pirate activities.
