Activities at Tandridge Heights Care Home
Our qualified and dedicated activities staff plan and implement all activities within the home. We try our best to arrange activities that reflect our residents interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can. We try to keep our residents active and happy.
Our activities include trips to garden centres, pubs, the cinema or the local theatre. We have many fun games like carpet bowls, Play Your Cards Right or armchair exercises. There are many musical events, singalongs, garden parties and tea parties for everyone to enjoy as well!
Kelly Sherwin
I started at Tandridge Heights in 2020. Previous to this, I have been working as a carer sine 2010, which has helped me to understand the needs, wants and the individuality of all of our residents.
My main responsibility is provide a varied and engaging activities schedule every day for our residents; this helps to keep them involved in social and uplifting activities. We love to have parties to celebrate birthdays, national days and special occasions.

Life at Tandridge Heights Care Home
Wild About Britain!
We recently welcomed Connie from Wild About Britain who brought with her a selection of animals including Wren the smooth snake, Conker the toad, Snowdrop the hedgehog and Freddie the tawny owl, Connie held an interesting and informative talk about each animal before letting residents hold them and interact with them.
Resident ambassador Beryl said “That was one of the best talks we’ve ever had”
Here at Tandridge Heights we make wishes come true...
During a recent reminiscence activity looking at pictures of the British seasides, Mena saw a picture of Worthing Beach and said “oh, I wish I could go to Worthing, walk along the pier and go on that giant wheel, I haven’t been to the seaside in many many years”…….so today, we took a group of residents to Worthing, walked along the pier and went on that giant wheel.
We all had such a lovely day enjoying the beautiful sunshine, sea breeze and fresh air as well as delicious fish and chips followed by yummy ice cream and an exciting ride on the Giant Wheel. The delight on Mena’s face was just magical.
Mena said “Thank you so much, I’ve had the best day and I’ll treasure all the memories forever”
101st Birthday celebrations
Our dear Betty celebrated her 101st birthday at Tandridge Heights.
During the afternoon Betty reminisced with friends and family about past birthdays and how much they have changed. Everybody helped themselves to the delicious homemade cakes and treats, washing them down with a refreshing mocktail. The relaxing music helped with the ambiance and everybody joined in with a sing along. A great afternoon was had by all.
A trip to Ashdown Forest
Our Memory Lane residents love an outing, so whilst the sun was shining we took a little trip to Ashdown Forest to look at the beautiful views and to enjoy a delicious Mr. Whippy Ice cream.
Beyond the benefits of Vitamin D, people living with Dementia can have an out-of-sync circadian rhythm, but being outside in the sunlight , when the sun is shining, can help improve their functioning, make them more alert, lower their risk of falls and reset their body’s internal clock.
Mena said “There is nothing like a Mr. whippy Ice-cream on a warm summers day, and these views are absolutely amazing, what a gorgeous day”
D-Day Memorial
Tandridge Heights marked the 80th anniversary of the D-Day Landings with a memorial church service held at the home by Rev. David Weightman from St. Mary’s church in Oxted. Residents took the opportunity to remember those that fell on the beaches of Normandy.
We then welcomed the D-Day Dollies for an afternoon of nostalgic songs and good old sing along.
Our Dementia choir sang beautiful songs by Vera Lynn, The Andrew Sisters and Glenn Miller. Music evokes emotions and memories, which is why our musical choir has therapeutic benefits for everyone but especially people living with Dementia.
Pub Lunch
Here at Tandridge Heights we don’t need much of an excuse to go for a nice pub lunch, but the recent pouring rain created the perfect day to be indoors somewhere fun but cosy.
We visited the Peacock Lodge in Felbridge for a delicious lunch and nice refreshing drinks. John said he really enjoyed his pint of Doombar and his bangers and mash.
The food was delicious and the company even better
