Activities at Tennyson Wharf Care Home

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Rebecca Harrowing

Activities Co-ordinator

Hi my name is Rebecca, I started working at Tennyson Wharf in July 2024.

Previous to starting at Tennyson Wharf I have lived in many countries and worked as a supply teacher and administrator in Bahrain in the Middle East - I have also worked in scouting programme groups in both the USA and UK.

Whilst I have worked with children for a lot of my life, working with the elderly is always been something I have been passionate about. I believe that everybody has a story to tell and our residents life stories all add value to Tennyson Wharf.

Outside of work I enjoy walking, gardening and going to the cinema.

Employee of the Month - April

Employee of the Month - April

Congratulations to Activities Coordinator, Clare Donner, who was named as our Employee of the Month for April.

Clare is a deserved winner; she has developed a great relationship with residents, families and friends and is continually bringing new activities into our home on a regular basis. Thoroughly owning her role, Clair has been active and successful in developing relationships with the wider community.

Residents and visitors particularly gain much enjoyment from the toddler group, who come to us on a Tuesday morning for singing and interaction.

Well done, Clare!

Our Mother's Day Tea Party was attended by many relatives, friends and mums. We were all entertained by a band whose founder is the daughter of a resident. The event also coincided with residents, Freda's, 93rd birthday.

Music with Mummy

Music with Mummy’ brings families with their babies and toddlers into Tennyson Wharf on a weekly basis to sing songs and play percussion instruments with residents. It is a truly amazing experience even the shyest of children have fun with our enthralled and happy residents. Having permission from parents to have a little cuddle, residents readily accept and recall happy times!

Established in 1992 by Elaine Bielby, ‘Music with Mummy’ is an inspirational, fun, friendly and welcoming musical education programme for babies through to preschool children. Sessions are attended by mums, dads, grandparents and teddy bears, as well as residents.
