Activities at Tennyson Wharf Care Home
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.
Rebecca Harrowing
Hi my name is Rebecca, I started working at Tennyson Wharf in July 2024.
Previous to starting at Tennyson Wharf I have lived in many countries and worked as a supply teacher and administrator in Bahrain in the Middle East - I have also worked in scouting programme groups in both the USA and UK.
Whilst I have worked with children for a lot of my life, working with the elderly is always been something I have been passionate about. I believe that everybody has a story to tell and our residents life stories all add value to Tennyson Wharf.
Outside of work I enjoy walking, gardening and going to the cinema.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Life at Tennyson Wharf Care Home
Graffiti Grannies
The names Doris, Elsie and Gladys aren’t among the tags you’d normally expect to see written in graffiti, but a group of care home residents have proved that you’re never too old to learn new skills by taking a lesson in graffiti art. Vanda Bradshaw and Audrey Clarke were two of the residents at Tennyson Wharf to grab an aerosol and learn the art. They were taught by artist James Mayle, who usually teaches much younger people how to wield spray paint.
World Chocolate Day
Residents tasted chocolates from around the world, trying to guess exactly where they were from and what they contained. They very much enjoyed the experience! They then indulged in a chocolate fondue – dipping strawberries into melted chocolate. They had as much fun licking the remains off their fingers as they did consuming the end result.
Seaside Trip
We were unlucky enough to choose the only day that it was windy and raining to go to the beach, but that didn't stop residents from enjoying themselves!
Pets at Home
What a wonderful morning! Our weekly toddler group and parents, and our residents, were enthralled when Pets At Home visited with baby rabbits and Guinea pigs. There were lots of cuddles and smiles!
The Lincolnshire Show
The sun was shining at the Lincolnshire Show, where our lovely General Manager, Katie, presented the prizes for the 'Best in Class' of these woolly friends! The sheep were judged on their general health as well as size and build. Tennyson Wharf loves getting involved with events in the local community, and we like to take residents out for day trips as often as possible.
Queen's Birthday Preparations
Residents got creative and produced these decorations and scrumptious cakes in readiness for celebrating the Queen’s birthday.
