Activities at Tewkesbury Fields Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Paula Lourenco

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Paula and I’m the Activities coordinator at Tewkesbury Fields care home. I’ve joined Barchester healthcare in 2020.

As part of the lifestyle enrichment team, I will be organising daily activities, ensuring that residents have varied activities to choose from each day. I love enriching our residents’ lives, creating memories and be able to provide meaningful activities to each one of the residents living at Tewkesbury fields.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Bingo with Students from Local School

This week we welcomed students from Alderman & Knight School to join us for a game of bingo! It became very tense towards the final numbers and resulted in 2 students and 1 resident shouting "Bingo"!The students also shared with us what career paths they are looking to embark on - they are all looking towards exciting opportunities. Our residents also shared what careers they fulfilled. It was a wonderful morning and would look forward to our invite for a coffee morning at Alderman Knight School in June

At Tewkesbury Fields we support our residents to continue with their hobbies and interests. This week our residents weekly quiz hosted by our residents extended into the community. Our resident ambassador now hosts a monthly quiz at Marina Court in Tewkesbury, this is a quiz written and planned by him.We always receive a warm welcome and learn something new every time. Yesterday's quiz was quite challenging - but there certainly was a wealth if knowledge in the room!

Celebrating "Style Wednesday" at Cheltenham Races

Style Wednesday, Dress to impress This afternoon we dressed to impress wearing fancy hats and enjoying a delicious afternoon tea prepared by our talented chef whilst we watched the horse racing live from Cheltenham. Many of the residents have a very keen interest in horse racing so this was extra special to watch the racing from our local course. There was such a great atmosphere and we even got a little competitive!

Falls Prevention Talk

Falls prevention talk was another successful event held at Tewkesbury Fields this week. We welcomed family members, residents and members of the community to this informative presentation.

Jess, our Acting Deputy Manager delivered a very interesting talk about the importance of the falls prevention process and how best to avoid incidents. Jess shared very useful information and tips that all found very beneficial.

Thanks Jess for leading this event, sharing some great advice and knowledge with everyone.

Indoor Skittles!

This week we've been up to some challenges and fun.

Playing skittles seems to be one of the residents favourite activities this week at Tewkesbury Fields.
Some had previously played the game and others wanted to enter the challenge for a little bit of fun but also learn about it.

We all had a good morning of laughter and didn't get too competitive.
