Activities at The Cedars Bourne Care Home
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.
Helen Hudson
Hello. I’m Helen, the Activities Coordinator at The Cedars. I joined the team in 2021 and I have lots of skills that I can use to create an interesting and varied programme of activities, events and celebrations for residents to enjoy. I am a qualified holistic therapist and offer an holistic approach to activities in the home, I love creating new activities that our residents enjoy, taking residents out on day trips and promoting wellbeing through lots of different activities. When I am not at work I love playing my clarinet, crocheting and art - I use all of these in my role.

Life at The Cedars Bourne Care Home
Decorating the Christmas tree
Residents loved decorating the Christmas tree at The Cedars in Bourne. They shared their favourite memories of previous Christmases while they made it look stunning with its traditional gold and red colour scheme.
Making mince pies to share
On Sunday morning residents made their own mince pies which brought back so many memories of Christmas past, which we shared and laughed about as we were baking. In the afternoon we enjoyed the mince pies with other residents and a glass of mulled wine.
Making Christmas Gonks
We spent one of our activities sessions making Christmas gonks to decorate The Cedars with. The little creatures are everywhere now - on our tree, by the windows, in our rooms!
Wine and cheese with friends
Residents at The Cedars Bourne enjoyed a relaxing Sunday afternoon of conversation and debate, with some delicious wine and cheese. We also played a festive card game with the autumn sun streaming through the windows.
Enjoying a monthly knit and natter
The Cedars in Bourne holds a monthly 'Knit and Natter' club for residents to enjoy a shared hobby. There is no pressure to knit or natter, so it is a popular social get together, especially for the ladies.

Residents and staff at The Cedars in Bourne have enjoyed some visiting entertainment and a lively singalong of favourite tunes from over the years.
