Activities at The Cedars Bourne Care Home

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Helen Hudson

Activities Coordinator

Hello. I’m Helen, the Activities Coordinator at The Cedars. I joined the team in 2021 and I have lots of skills that I can use to create an interesting and varied programme of activities, events and celebrations for residents to enjoy. I am a qualified holistic therapist and offer an holistic approach to activities in the home, I love creating new activities that our residents enjoy, taking residents out on day trips and promoting wellbeing through lots of different activities. When I am not at work I love playing my clarinet, crocheting and art - I use all of these in my role.

Life at The Cedars Bourne Care Home

Happy Birthday, Mary!

The Cedars team surprised Mary with a lovely birthday cake which she shared with residents and visitors. We love to make birthdays special with treats, decorations and family visitors.

Just one Cornetto???

We are delighted the weather is warm and summery, but sometimes we need to cool down with an ice cream. Residents loved it when Harriet dressed as an ice cream salesperson and went round the whole home delivering Cornettos.

Dorothy's beautiful nails

Dorothy has always loved going to a nail bar to have a gel polish, but for the last year she has been very pleased to have her regular manicure at The Cedars Bourne.

Photography session in the garden

Harriet, the Activities Coordinator at The Cedars Bourne, has a degree in Photography and has been using her skills to run photography sessions. Paddy and other residents have been composing near and distant pictures of the lovely garden at our home to practise their new creative skills.

Enjoying the Euros Final

Alec, Mary and Paddy enjoyed the preparations and build up to watching the big match at The Cedars in Bourne. There was a great atmosphere in our home and, despite the tantalisingly close end result, we were all proud of the England team.

5 stars for our Chef

Richard, Head Chef at The Cedars in Bourne, was over the moon to receive a 5-star Food Hygiene Rating from the Food Standards Agency following an inspection at our home this week. Other members of the team (pictured) were delighted too including Charlie, Virginia (holding the new certificate) and Marilyn. This is the highest rating possible and well deserved by the whole team as it reflects The Cedars’ commitment to excellence in nutrition and hygiene for residents.
