Activities at The Cedars Bourne Care Home
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.
Helen Hudson
Hello. I’m Helen, the Activities Coordinator at The Cedars. I joined the team in 2021 and I have lots of skills that I can use to create an interesting and varied programme of activities, events and celebrations for residents to enjoy. I am a qualified holistic therapist and offer an holistic approach to activities in the home, I love creating new activities that our residents enjoy, taking residents out on day trips and promoting wellbeing through lots of different activities. When I am not at work I love playing my clarinet, crocheting and art - I use all of these in my role.

Life at The Cedars Bourne Care Home
Making our Harvest Loaf
We have been baking our harvest loaf at The Cedars Bourne, enjoying kneading and designing our bread and giving thanks that we have plenty of lovely food to enjoy.
Enjoying knitting club
Our ladies (and sometimes gents) enjoy the regular knitting club at The Cedars Bourne. We knit, crochet, sew and make pompoms while we catch up with friends.
Cheese and wine in the sun
We have enjoyed a cheese and wine afternoon together at The Cedars Bourne, followed by a stroll outside in our beautiful garden, to enjoy the flowers, birds and our little river, all in the last lovely bit of summer sunshine.
A beach-style staycation
Today we had a true staycation at The Cedars Bourne. We brought the beach to our lovely garden, making sand castles and enjoying the good weather. We listened to seaside music and recalled memories of family holidays. Residents and staff had fun paddling, playing games and enjoying some old-fashioned seaside humour. Paddy said. ‘This was so much fun - the best afternoon I’ve had in a while’. Jo said, ‘It was lovely to sit with my friends, enjoying the sun and eating an ice cream’.
Meeting Tyler for the first time
A resident at The Cedars in Bourne has just met her new grandson for the first time. Jules was over the moon to hold four-month-old Tyler who she hadn't seen before due to Covid restrictions. She thought he was a wonderful, happy alert little chap who seemed to love his visit to The Cedars Bourne.
Colonel Charles' walk
Charles spent many years in the Army and rose through the ranks to become Colonel. He enjoyed a reflective walk from The Cedars in Bourne to the memorial garden at Wellhead Park.
