Activities at The Cedars Bourne Care Home

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Life at The Cedars Bourne Care Home

100th Birthday Celebrations

Residents at The Cedars recently enjoyed her 100th birthday, celebrating with staff and her family during her visit on this big birthday.

Staff had the gazebo and her bedroom decorated with balloons and banners. Our chef had made a beautifully decorated cake for the occasion.

Head Start Nursery

The Cedars put together an activity and craft hamper to go to Head Start Nursery in Bourne for Friendship Week and to say a huge thank you to all of the children for all of their pictures and cards that they have been sending our residents during this time.

Head Start children usually visit us here every week; our residents are really missing them all and wanted to send the hamper to say thank you. The children were really excited to see what goodies they had.

Welcome Back!

Residents are happy to be able to see their friends and loved ones again in the garden. No matter the weather, it won’t stop our residents being able to have quality time with family. It’s a joy to see big smiles and laughter fill the air.

Always remember, if you would like to come and see your loved ones, don’t hesitate to ring us here at The Cedars to get booked in.

Oomph!

Residents recently enjoyed choosing a selection of CDs to play for Oomph in the afternoon. The ladies took the lead and chose a movement each to their song choice.

We encourage keeping our bodies active to improve and maintain resident mobility so they are able to do more for themselves—motivation is key!

Chocolate & Wine Afternoon

Residents at The Cedars recently enjoyed wine and chocolate tasting, seeing which wine goes best with which chocolate. They are happy to be involved in a sensory activities; one lady asked if we could make this a regular activity every fortnight. Residents enjoy making friendly connections with other residents over a glass of wine to share stories and to reminisce.

VE Day Celebrations

Residents at the Cedars care home, in Bourne recently enjoyed a very own street party set up in the home down Rowan and Maple’s corridor with banners, posters, streamers and balloons filling the corridor with red, white and blue. Our kitchen chef made sandwiches, Victoria sponge cake, coconut tarts, sausage rolls and Bakewell tart for a tasty treat that our residents can enjoy.

Residents at the home are happy to be able to celebrate VE Day and loved hearing wartime songs playing down the corridor, it meant such a lot as visitors are currently not able to visit the home at this time.

Becky, General Manager at the Cedars Care Home said: “In these unprecedented times, ensuring residents feel engaged and connected within our local community is more important than ever. Our residents spirits have raised being able to celebrate and have our own street party in the home. We provide a wide range of physical, mental and spiritual activities at the Cedars as part of the life enrichment programme for residents, and this one was very popular! We have also adapted ways to keep residents active, whilst ensuring that the group activities are smaller, adhering to social distancing advice.”
