Activities at Threshfield Court Care Home
Here at Threshfield Court, we aim to tailor the activities to meet the needs of individual residents, the communities within the home and the home as a whole. We have regular, structured activities such as visits from Music for Health, specialist armchair exercise facilitators, local musicians and a growing team of volunteers, including our local clergy. We also have time for arts and crafts, all sorts of games, music, poetry and lots more. We are pretty good at being spontaneous too!

Life at Threshfield Court Care Home
Sensory games
When it is a hot day at Threshfield Court Care Centre we use our Magic Table. We darken the room which makes it nice and cool and we really enjoy interacting with the many games on the table. The table creates moments of happiness and positive well-being. The games are developed for people with a cognitive challenge, such as people with dementia, or for those that just want to have fun.”
Celebrating all things chocolate!
At Threshfield Court Centre it was a challenge keeping our chocolate cool and just at the right temperate to celebrate National Chocolate Day. We had an amazing day with everything themed around chocolate. It was good fun though, but you can only eat and enjoy so much. We enjoyed discussions about how the bars had changed over the years and how small they now seem to be. A lighter lunch was served!.
Happy Birthday!
At Threshfield Court Care Centre every day is a special day. However, today it was extra special as one our residents celebrated her 93rd birthday. It was a beautiful sunny day where the family came and took the birthday girl out for a birthday lunch. There was an opportunity to enjoy some birthday cake later in the day and unwrap all the birthday gifts and cards. A very Happy Birthday indeed!
Dr Tim Howard discusses book
Residents across our homes had a lovely time joining Dr Tim Howard, 4th generation GP, whose whole life has been about patient care, for an exciting virtual event to discuss his novel ‘Let’s Kill All The Lawyers’.
The novel is a medical fiction thriller that explores the impact of life and death events, mistakes and forgiveness, and the impact of law and justice on the day- to-day lives of ordinary people doing their best in difficult circumstances.
Residents had the chance to ask their own questions once the discussion was over and a great time was had by all.
Virtual book event
Our residents across our homes had a lovely time joining Daniel Snowman, for an exciting virtual event to discuss his book ‘Just Passing Through’.
Author of over a dozen books, Daniel Snowman’s long and active life has led him to interact in countless ways with the wider world and with some of its most famous inhabitants. His memoir evokes these experiences via a series of vivid literary vignettes.
Our residents found the talk very intriguing and informative, and were happy to learn more about Daniel’s experiences around the world. A great time was had by all.
Virtual singing session
Our homes had a fantastic time with vocal coach Mark De-Lisser as he led an amazing virtual singing session for our residents to enjoy.
Our residents were able to learn different techniques as they sang the famous ‘I’m a Believer’ by The Monkees.
There were smiles and laugher all around. The session was such a success and was great for the mind, body and soul.
