Activities at Threshfield Court Care Home

Here at Threshfield Court, we aim to tailor the activities to meet the needs of individual residents, the communities within the home and the home as a whole. We have regular, structured activities such as visits from Music for Health, specialist armchair exercise facilitators, local musicians and a growing team of volunteers, including our local clergy. We also have time for arts and crafts, all sorts of games, music, poetry and lots more. We are pretty good at being spontaneous too!

KL Pony Therapy Visit

On Wednesday 14th November, we had the absolute pleasure of welcoming Vicky and ‘Glory’ The American Miniature Pony.

Each resident had the opportunity to meet Glory and say hello. Glory even managed a ride in the lift to see all the residents on each community floor. This experience for the residents was amazing and so heart-warming. It shows the importance of a simple everyday animal making that difference to each individual. The smiles and the laughter could be seen throughout the home.

Glory even had Green Sparkly hooves!

Bonfire Night

On Friday 4th November we held our very own miniature Bonfire and Fireworks display. Residents had scrumptious Pie and Peas supper, followed by homemade parkin pigs, fudge and s’mores. The outdoor patio area was the perfect place for residents wanting to go outdoors to watch the fireworks.

Thank you H Weatherfield and sons for supplying the pies. And a huge, big thank you to all the Threshfield Court team.

Royal Botanic Garden

Our homes enjoyed a wonderful virtual tour of the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh with Community Engagement Manager, Charlotte Walker, and Botanic Cottage Operations Co-ordinator, Laura Gallagher.

The residents were thrilled to learn more about the history of the beautiful Garden, which is now a home to an impressive plant collection from around the world.

Charlotte and Laura also gave a demonstration of making fresh herbal tea and were happy to answer our questions.  The virtual experience was truly enjoyed by all who joined.

Beautiful bouquets

Our homes had a fantastic time joining members of the Wallace Collection for an amazing sensory session.

During the live virtual experience, our residents explored one of the museum’s most beautiful Dutch flower paintings and learnt new drawing techniques.

We cannot wait to put our creative skills to a test and produce beautiful paintings of our own.

Everyone enjoyed the lovely talk, we all had lots of fun and it’s given us plenty of ideas.
