Activities at Threshfield Court Care Home
Here at Threshfield Court, we aim to tailor the activities to meet the needs of individual residents, the communities within the home and the home as a whole. We have regular, structured activities such as visits from Music for Health, specialist armchair exercise facilitators, local musicians and a growing team of volunteers, including our local clergy. We also have time for arts and crafts, all sorts of games, music, poetry and lots more. We are pretty good at being spontaneous too!
Claire Boocock
Hi, my name is Claire Boocock. I come from a background of hospitality and working in the Care Home sector is very new for me but already immense job satisfaction in working with our residents alongside a great team.
I am very excited about this new venture in my career. I am an outgoing person with a big bubbly personality and looking forward to making a big difference to the social well-being of our residents with my flair of creativity and adventure.

Life at Threshfield Court Care Home
Who mentioned ice-cream?
At Threshfield Court Care Centre we asked our lovely residents where they wanted to go on the minibus. Ice cream was mentioned and before you knew it, Dave our volunteer minibus driver took us to a lovely spot in Ilkley just by the park. We took the picturesque route through the Yorkshire Dales Park, down through Burnsall and Barden passing the famous Bolton Abbey. We ordered small ice creams and gosh, they were big! We took our time enjoying every mouthful whilst watching the children playing in the park, people dog walking and even a game of boules”.
A trip out
It was a cool wind today at Threshfield Court whilst we ventured out on our mini bus trip. We asked the ladies where they would like to go and it was decided that a run to Grimworth Reservoir would be nice. We enjoy watching the bird life and listening to the sounds of nature. Our volunteer minibus driver brought some bird seed with him to entice the birds and we were delighted when a female chaffinch came so very close to the minibus step. It is sometimes the smallest of things that uplift our mood for the rest of the day. As always, tea and coffee was served with a few biscuits
National Doughnut Week
As part of National Doughnut Week we got involved in a variety of activities in support of the Children’s Trust, the leading charity for children with brain injuries and neurodisabilities.
Our residents participated in a tasting session and had fun decorating doughnuts.
All in all, the week was a great success, we managed to raise funds for the children and to enjoy some very yummy doughnuts.
Dog themed bingo
At Threshfield Court Care Centre we had our heads well and truly down. It wasn’t because of the weather, but we were playing a game of dog bingo. It was bingo with a twist and every card that was pulled out of the bag had a show round and a brief history. Who would have thought that the Australian Shepherd originated in Northern Spain and the Australian Kelpie from England. Also, some of the breed names were a little challenging, Kooikerhondje. The game was very interesting and informative
Live entertainment
At Threshfield Court Care Home today we were delighted to welcome Geoff who came to play his guitar and sing to us. We get the musical instruments out and have a really fun time. Some of us have a dance and join in. We always finish with a cup of tea and a piece of cake
Flower power
At Threshfield Court Care Centre we love flower arranging especially on a Bank Holiday Monday. It is amazing how much enjoyment we have and how much concentration is needed to get the display just perfect. We have a nice relaxing waterfall CD playing in the back ground which really enhances our wellbeing. We always enjoy a cup of tea and a piece of homemade cake whilst we admire our displays.
