Activities at Trinity Manor Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

The Great Flipping Competition!

Whilst the residents were tucking into their pancakes, Deputy Manager Paul hosted a fierce competition to see which member of staff was the ultimate pancake flipper!

With some interesting, and questionable, techniques on offer, only one could win the coveted 1st place trophy. As Community Care Leads, Sarah and Julie, battled it out, the initial favourite was new Head Chef Marcus as he flipped his way into the lead. Administration Manager Becky showed us its all in the wrists as she flipped her way to an impressive score of 21.

After a strong display, our housekeeping team accepted the challenge as Vicky stepped up to the plate, looking to prove herself as a first rate flipper in front of Head Housekeeper Steph.

Many entered, but only one could prevail. The 2023 Pancake Flipping Championship was won by our Head Housekeeper Steph Haycock

A big Thank you to Paul for brightening our day and to those who joined in with making Pancake Day a day to remember!

Pancake Day

Shrove Tuesday, also known as Pancake Day, has crêped up on us again.

Shrove comes from the word 'Shrive', which in Christianity means confessing one's sins, and is the last day before Lent begins on Ash Wednesday. A time when many people fast or give up something they love, Shrove was often the last opportunity for people to use their leftover eggs, milk and sugar before the items went off. Pancakes were one of the easiest ways to use up these ingredients before the fasting season began.

Let's just say we are always very happy to indulge in this tradition! With some opting for the traditional lemon juice and sugar, whilst other rogues opting for chocolate spread and strawberries, we all celebrated together over a scotch pancake.

Musical Masterpiece

Our residents were invited along to a lunchtime concert held by our lovely neighbours Sherborne Girls School.

In the wonderful Gransden Hall, we were treated to numbers like rhythmic clarinet and lyrical cello, and some brilliant singing thrown into the mix. We even got our fingers clicking to the Pink Panther theme. All performed by talented students, the occasion was nostalgic for one of our residents, whose daughter learnt to play and performed cello for the school.

Thank you for inviting us along!

St. David's Day

We had much to celebrate here at Trinity Manor for St David's Day.

We got up to all sorts, with some trying their hand at baking Welsh Cakes with Activity Coordinator, Laura, whilst others took part in a St David's Day quiz.

The highlight of the day was given to us by returning pianist Alan Poulton, who performed an extraordinary array of hits for us all to sing along to.

Breaking Bread

Having seen an enticing recipe on Oomph on Demand, some residents asked to have a go at baking banana bread.

With the kitchen providing the ingredients for us, the bakers got to work, accompanied by Activities Coordinator Joe, with all remarking how simple baking sweet recipes can be.

Ukulele Utopia

Our musical theme on the middle floor welcomes the return of our favourite ukulele band.

Having first visited us a year ago, our residents clamoured for more of the upbeat, atmosphere inducing tunes and the troop was happy to oblige us, returning to Trinity Manor to lots of smiling faces. With lots of singalong tunes and some instruments handed out to those in attendance, the occasion swept us all up and engaged all in attendance.

Another big thank you goes out to the ukulele group for another fun and much loved performance!
