Activities at West Oak Care Home

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

St Patrick's Day Celebrations

This year at West Oak residents and staff had such a great day celebrating St Patrick's Day. We started off our celebrations with making some delicious Mocktail’s with Non Alcoholic Gin, tonic, Lime Juice & Cucumber; these went down an absolute treat!

Then to end our afternoon we made some Irish Coffee’s with nibbles and had an afternoon chin wag. The Irish Coffees were a massive hit and the residents really did have a great day celebrating!

Acts of Kindness Day celebrations

Resident's and staff have celebrated Acts of Kindness Day with the making of friendship cards to pass onto anyone they want to spread kindness to. Here at West Oak we believe it is important for everyone to remember that kindness is free and it is 'kind to be kind'.

Australia Day

Residents and staff thoroughly enjoyed celebrating Australia Day this year. We had a day packed full of different activities to really take full advantage of learning different things about this beautiful country.

We ended our afternoon by making some traditional Australian sweet treats, Anzac. Anzac biscuits are a crunchy biscuits made with oats, golden syrup and much more. These were made perfectly by a few of our residents and then later added to the Tea Trolley for the rest of our residents to enjoy with an afternoon cuppa

International Flower Day

West Oak celebrated International Flower Day this year by getting some of our residents together and having a fun afternoon of flower arranging.

The residents had a fantastic time arranging the flowers and choosing all of the beautiful different flowers and colours. Flower arranging is always such a big hit here at West Oak as it allows each individual to explore their creative side.

The flowers have taken pride of place in our lounge, making everything look and feel brighter.

Christmas cake

Residents at West Oak had a fun time choosing their annual design for this year’s Barchester Christmas Cake Competition.  Residents thoroughly enjoyed making and decorating our Christmas Cake competition entry, they did such an amazing job and we are really thrilled with the outcome.

Henry Street

Residents enjoyed a little trip to Henry Street to see all of the Christmas decorations & lights. As you can see he was absolutely mesmerised by all of the lights and different decorations set up at the Garden Centre. It is such a fantastic time of year and we are really looking forward to enjoying Christmas this year at West Oak, but to be able to get the Residents out to enjoy it all really is special.
